About a year ago I saw Into the Wild on TV at 2 am, and I've probably watched it a million times. I can recite the lines, also read the book thrice.
Realisticly, I find the lifestyle would be daunting and lonely. I used to fantasize about it, but now I agree that 'happiness is only real when shared' and i'd still loooove to live in the wild, hiking and discovering edible wilds, but with another person.
In the book they mention a guy (do not remember his name) who survived the wild alone for 10 years, only to later conclude that it is impossible to survive on the land as man knows it, and shoot himself.
Doing this alone, I think would turn my passion into hell.
And survivorman is my favorite show along with departures x]
