This is an interesting question. Although I don't believe I am, I always want one or two drinks after work when I get home (and every day for that matter). Is this bad? At what point do you say, "Hey, I think I have a problem"?

Help.

I'm something of an alcoholic and a pretty heavy smoker. I don't begrudge myself booze and cigarettes because they're often the only things that pull me through my depression. I know they're bad for me but I can honestly say I don't mind not living as long as most. I'd rather have a shorter and less stressful life than vice versa.

My thoughts exactly. I don't smoke that much though. Just like once or twice a day - although since my girlfriend broke up with me 2 days ago I've smoked a lot..

I'd like to know too

yeeeahhhh...managed to get myself down to drinking a bottle of spirits and 6 beers a week...i think that still classifies me as a alco tho? meh my health is not a big concern to me

I'm an alcoholic, no doubt about it.

I started drinking quite heavily around the age of 16 - I'm 21 now... and being able to legally buy it certainly doesn't help at all. Though, I've been to outpatient rehab and numerous AA meetings in my time, but this was back when I was younger. Honestly, I've been wanting to post something about my alcoholism, but I've been too shy about... but, seeing this thread definitely made it easier for some weird reason. Although, I'm still too ashamed to admit or give a basic run down of how bad it really is.

I suffer this and I am trying very hard to quit drinking.

Drinking causes more anxiety, damages your nervous system and makes you 'fat'!

I wish I had someone to talk to.

Normally, something is considered a problem when it interferes with daily functioning. But with alcohol though, there's the danger of being addicted and damage to liver, so ideally it's best not to drink alcohol.

Apparently, I have a "problem", but this is coming from someone who drinks every day and gets plastered every weekend. I have cut down my drinking because I'm deathly afraid of developing alcoholism. I've read that a person can have a drinking problem albeit not being a true blue alcoholic so this scared me into cutting down. Oh, and I don't feel the need or urge to drink nor am I unable to function without alcohol.

I was pretty heavily dependent on alcohol at one point as i was using it as a coping method, but now i dont particularly enjoy drinking as it makes me feel ill, only drink if my friends are etc.

If I can get my hands on beer, I'm drinking it.
You should drink it with me too.

Alright sounds good! :D

Does anyone else here get drunk alone? My mom is always on my case about it. But the way I see it, it's dumb that people with lots of friends are allowed to get drunk but lonely people aren't ):<

I drink alone most of the time. Just me and a couple forty ounces of King Cobra along with some Xbox LIVE make for some fun times. Aside from that, I'm usually drunk around my friends, as I find that it helps quell my anxiousness, so that's why I gravitate toward it in a sense.

Though, a vast majority of my drunken stupors involve me waking up on my bedroom floor at five in the morning for work, with no recollection of how I got home or what happened that night.
