Thanks for adding me, I figured since I got you on FB.
"that a nice fictional story you have there "

    Fiction? Fiction?!?!
You gotta 'ppreciate yo' alien heritage, son!
The current HSF missions don't even make half of the science the unmanned missions do... and they cost A LOT less. So I hope the Constellation program will bring back NASA's reputation as a leading agency in space exploration. I certainly don't like that gap after the shuttle retires, but I do like Michael Griffin's idea about developing rockets for NASA and not adapting others to suit their need. Whether that's the best solution to today's crisis in HSF... under the current surcomstances... I don't know. But hey, some said the Ares I wont even fly and they proved them wrong. Still a lot of testing and development has to be done. Let's hope for the best! :) ...Sorry for my long post btw... I had to post it in three parts. :D
Looking back at things... the human spaceflight program of the US after the Apollo program was just a disaster. The shuttle cannot be built upon and improved. The design was just flawed from the beginning. It's exciting watching shuttle missions, but we don't make any REAL progress going to LEO and back... And those mission cost a lot of taxpayers money. NASA has been criticized for just that... pouring money into the human spaceflight program that seem as a total waste.
Well... we made a giant leap for mankind four decades ago... But the idea of a re-usable spaceship failed pretty bad. The STS program failed to achieve it's primary goal and it took like 30 years to actually realize it. It's also true that it did contribute to space exploration, but overall the shuttle was a bad idea from the start. So in that way I think this 30 year period, so called the shuttle era... was a step back. And I used to advocate the shuttle program.
Oh, wow, really? Can't wait for the next opportunity to see Andromeda! Looking at another galaxy is just... wow... I can't even imagine what would it feel like.

That's awesome! So you're in space missions also... Have you watched the Ares 1-X Test flight? Watching that thing blast off was pretty sweet! What do you think about the Constellation program overall... It sure has been criticized a lot.
Okay, Thanks for the advice. I'll keep that in mind. :)

One of the interesting things I've seen with my binoculars was Jupiter's moons. Sure they just look like little tiny lights, nothing special, but it's still pretty cool. With a 10x50 I can at least enjoy some deep space views. Mainly some star clusters.... The pleiades look awesome! Once I've tried to look at the orion nebula and I swear I could make out some sort of a silhouette... Similar to how the milky way appears. So far I've never had the chance to take a look at Andromeda! I would really like to see it, but I guess it won't be that spectacular with a 10x50 binoculars. :D Speaking of Andromeda, you have it on your avatar... have you tried looking at it with your telescope... or binoculars?

By the way, are you interested in space agencies and space exploration missions?
Hey, Thanks! I'm glad I found someone who shares some of my interests. :)

I've been really interested in space for the past 3 years and recently I have begun to do some observations myself. Unfortunately I only have a 10x50 binoculars, so I can't really see any of the planets in detail... but still, looking at the clear sky at night is always breath taking. It's really amazing.

So, what kind of telescope do you have?
