Group Interviews are nightmares! Can anyone here actually do them?

Seriously, the title says it all.
I think everyone is always assessing me anyway, and takes effort to be friendly and social, let alone when being judged! I've only been to one and I didn't speak lol so obviously a big fat fail.
Got offered to go for another one as a Christmas Casual position at Myer. I hate them so much, should I bother going at all? Any way I could turn this into a positive?

I only went to one group interview and I failed so bad. I think it's ok to suck at these kind of interviews though. However if you feel like you need to improve your social skills, you should go to the interview and take it as a personal experiment, instead of going with the idea of trying to impress the "judges" and getting the job. Think about it, you will be sitting at a table with a bunch of people that you will never see ever again. This is a good opportunity to try to speak up and see what happens :p

group interviews are easy. I have never had a group interview where one person had to make a speech to the group. usually it's group activities that involve problem solving, voluntarily putting your hand up if you have questions. if you want you can stay quiet and the company might like that as well as the louder ones.

individual interviews are hard though.

Yeah, I don't find any type of interview to be particularly scary. I guess it's the fear of being judged that gets to people, but you know they're not going to come out and say anything negative anyway, so to me it really doesn't matter...

One on one interviews are fine for me; a quiet confidence works wonders with potential employers. Maybe the type of social phobia I'm left with is strong paranoia - I often feel too scared to speak in front of more than 5 or so people because everyone is 'judging' me, let alone being in a situation where my social performance is actually being judged lol

I've been to two group interviews that were quite different from each other. The first one involved me being interviewed by three managers. It was nerve-racking but I actually pulled it off and was offered the position (I turned it down because I had been interviewing elsewhere at the time and was offered a better position).

The second group interview I participated in involved me and several candidates interviewing and trying to sell ourselves to a panel of managers. I didn't like it at all and gave a lackluster interview. I thought it was sort of demeaning to have us all compete with each other like that. I was tempted to get up, tell them to shove their position and walk out. Well, I never heard from them again after the interview and it was probably just as well. I'd hate to see first hand how they ran their company and what employee morale was like.
