Hello everyone! Im just trying to get an idea of how many people on here are like me, and cant go anywhere at all. Hopefully we can become friends and beat this unique battle together.

Right here can't leave my room or even speak to my family.

My heart goes out to all of you, because it wasn't too long ago when I suffered from the same thing. I know what you're going through and how painful it can be. Now I'm able to go out nearly everyday, mainly because I work during the week and go to school on Saturday. But even now I have to be vigilant about not staying in the house too many days in a row, because I'm aware of the risk of reverting back to my old ways. Keep in mind this didn't happen overnight, it was actually over a number of years, little by little, baby steps. I look forward to the day when we can all say "remember back when I had agoraphobia?" but until then, hang in there, and just know that you're not alone. I wish each and every one of you the best.

My excursions past the front door is to put the trash out, fetch groceries from the hypermarket or, predominately, go to job interviews. I get strange looks from people whenever I go down the street in a suit, as if I'm a freaky alien.

I hate the people in the street who sit around doing nothing all day, except their special time when all their children go to school or come back afterwards.

All my SA was triggered when all this started about 10 years ago.

Even a pet dog would have been great as I always put the needs of others before my own so if puppy has to pee, there's no arguing it. And of course repeated exposure is the best way to fit this beast.

This is a long shot but does anyone use EA Sports Active 2? I can't get to the gym anymore obviously so I just picked this up last weekend and am enjoying it so far. I was hoping to find a workout group online for others who are housebound. : )

The first 20 months of my sentence were alright everything was fine no problems. Untill i made parole and was going to go home and started stressing everyday about going home, and couldn't get into any fights or that would screw everything up.so i had to let everything slide by and that when it begun.

Sorry to hear about all you went through. But look at the positive side. You're free now. Most of us faced bullies as kids, but prison sounds a lot worse. But it's over now and you can see the blue sky and breathe the fresh air. Also in general people might be rude and stare, but they are much more better than prisoners I bet. So you can enjoy the pleasantness of life in the free world. Sorry if I sound retarded or cheesy because I'm not really a psychologist or anything, just a fellow patient. By the way, what did you go to prison for?

A workout routine for housebound people. well i'm starting to realize im pretty much housebound and used to be a highly energetic, motivated person with a scheduled workout routine and eating routine. Now i barley workout or have any motivation to do anything. so your workout routine for housebounds sounds like a pretty good idea to me in my opinion.

Aw I hear ya. I was incredibly active. Not with a crazy schedule or anything but I played sports three times a week minimum. One does feel the withdrawal! Even in the earlier agoraphobia years when it wasn't as bad I forced myself into two dance classes on campus just to be active and social. Funny how this disorder works...I'd love to be out there so badly.

Anyway! Look into it, especially if you have a Wii, because then I'd have a workout buddy. (it's available for all consoles)

I guess I fit into this too. I stopped going places almost two years ago but still went for walks and now its been over six months since I've left the property. If anyone had ever asked me what I thought I would be doing at twenty I probably wouldn't have known but I would never of guessed I would be spending everyday moping around my house, feeling pathetic and hating my life while trying to contain the mass panic attacks and overwhelming fear that embodies me every minute of the day. I envy people who actually try to get better. I know I gave up a long time ago and am just refusing to admit it to myself. This is the first time I've been on this site in a really long time if any fellow agoraphobes want to email or something I'm always willing to share my miserable experiences with others. i am also afraid to leave the house. Last year i was able to go just about anywhere execpt for walmart cuz i didnt feel safe in there and would almost have an anxiety attack. I have no clue of why or how it got this bad. But now im afraid to go anywhere. I do go to work which is about 10 mins away from my home but on the way there im always on the verge of having an anxiety attack. I make my husband go by himself grocery shopping and i also have him grab my perscription from walmart. I wish i could just easily snap my fingers and get over it. I miss shopping with him and going to his family members houses to visit. :-(

I used to go music shopping with my Mother or Friend a lot in the 90s. But that stopped around '97 and the furthest i go now is in my Garden at Christmas time to decorate.

I'm so used to it now though and i couldn't imagine being any other way.

I'm quite happy with the life i do have. Is anyone else happy to be in this situation or do i sounds like a freak!? lol.

im at the point i can go to the store with my girlfriend where its close to my house but even there i get small bouts of anxiety. im trying to get out for walks around the house but like i was sapose to go to collage this year, and i backed out becouse... hell i cant get on a bus no less take the bus to a class full of strangers for 6-8 hours. i would have a panic attack as soon as i stepped out the door.

im really trying to work on it tho, like, starting today im starting a small work out regiment. im trying to eat healthier and im going to try and get in an hour of meditation.

my biggest problem is that my panic attacks inhibits me from making alot of progress and my agoraphobia stresses me out causing me more anxiety witch brings on the panic attacks. its a vicious circle.

I live alone and rarely leave my house. I am completely isolated and alone in the world. I have no choice but to leave the house for household items and for things for my pets and every time I am out of my door it is a nightmare and a devastating experience. I'm an extremely good person and I'm not unattractive but none of what I am matters because I'm in a seperate world and other humans look like demons to me.

i can relate to you both. i'm not a total agoraphobe anymore, but i still prefer being at home. i know you both mean "demons" figuratively and when i read your posts this video just popped into my head.

*Raises hand* I am not much able to go out by myself, I feel too afraid to. Strange as it sounds, I think it is because I live in a rural area where public transportation is nil (I don't drive) and going anywhere would mean walking along a highway or through residential areas for almost 30 mins. That makes me feel really exposed and vulnerable rather than if I could hop on a bus. =(

I feel the same way that you do and if I did go out it would mean going around bussy highways too. I blame transportation too and being alone and going anywhere alone does not make it easy. I feel that people who go places alot does because they have friends to go out with.

I leave the house on a once/month basis, usually there is the material/foody need every 2 weeks, but then i start to drag, and take back of my coat, and revert until a full month. Usually there is that once seldom day where I go "Oh F* it !" and I'm off for an hour, but when I'm back home I'm really exhausted like I've ran 5 marathons, and so the cycle continues.... for years now.

I have days/weeks where leaving the house is a struggle but I also have days when it is fine. I haven't been into Uni in the past month because that is the worst place for bringing out my panic attacks so I only go in if I REALLY have to. I NEVER ever leave the house without taking my beta blockers because otherwise I will be in constant fear of having a panic attack in public. Days often slip by when I don't leave the house but I don't really notice it, and sometimes I end up having to lie to my housemates/friends/family because I don't want them to know I have spent all day indoors. I am trying to tackle it though and force myself to go outside even if it is just for a short walk. If I am with someone then it isn't a problem, just sometimes I struggle with going out on my own. As I said, I don't feel like this every day though and it is very much dependent on my overall mood at the time/if things are ****/if I'm really tired/if I have had a heavy weekend etc etc.
