What do you do on your birthday?

Mine's been obsolete as getting old. Childhood's magic.

Student days were never about my birthdays; just everyone gets pissed most days, and I joined in.

Nothing to celebrate as the years go by. It's hard to join when it's someone else's birthday, if I had nothing to add to the conversation, but I always come along and try.

Maybe something to celebrate that I'm still alive tomorrow. A year ago, my one friend managed to get 5 of us together at my place. I liked it. I've missed his since. Don't know if I feel like calling him and doing the same a year ago.

I have inset SA that getting together is no good for anyone else.

I ain't timid, but social life has dwindled away in the last decade.

Well, I post here to redeem my feelings. Maybe a birthday alone is a bit sad, and not right but I wonder what you think

Well my parents like to celebrate my bday more than me. The only thing I care about is the cake. They buy me food, but I haven't received a gift in years. I personally don't care for it and hate the constant reminder that I'm getting older. Life get harder and more annoying as I get older, why the hell would I want to celebrate that?

I've never had a birthday party.
In school, I always worked on my birthday-- sometimes until 3am the next morning.
Some years I'll have a proper meal and some cake; most years I don't get around to it.

My sister likes to get me a gift for my birthday but I don't ask for anything nor do I expect anything.
Just another day- not a big deal.

since 10 i think i haven't celebrated a birthday party, my family always thought it would be good, but i was too scared that nobody would like the party and everything would be an epic FAIL. so i celebrated with my mother and father. i started to hate my birthday, because my mother and father sees i have no good friends.

I don't really make a big deal out of my birthday. The last couple of years I've made sure I took the day off work, but I don't really do anything special. I usually go for a meal with my parents, either on the day itself or the following weekend.

I don't have any real recollection of birthday parties when I was a kid. I'm pretty sure I did have them, but mostly I remember going to friends' birthday parties. For some reason I can recall those much more clearly than my own.

I haven't celebrated my birthday for about 12 years now. I don't really see it as anything I particularly want to celebrate which has always caused friction in my family. They're all quite big on birthday celebrations and even went as far as to call me selfish for not wanting presents or a party, which was quite weird. Meh.

I like when people remember my birthday, but I don't like to have all the focus of a party put on me!

I'm pushing forty this b-day.

I tried to have a good time last year, took the day off from work... Wore some figure enhancing clothes, (nothing super sl*tty) & went to a bar by myself...

What followed was me getting drunk, by myself, & doing artwork on bar napkins.

I went home feeling old, lonely, & pathetic... & I was mad at myself for even trying. (with the outfit)

So, I'm going to work on my birthday this year. I'm sure it will suck. :: But, at least I won't have wasted a lot of effort on it.

I do nothing, if my few friends remember my birth we go to Some place, nothing really extraordinary, we go to cinema or we go to eat in a restaurant. But that day I receive one or two text messages in my phone, no more, I receive very few congratulations.

I think the general consensus is birthdays suck, When turning 18 all birthdays should be banned, that way we might not feel so pathetically inadequate.

Just like mines too, another day passing by. When I was a child my sister messed up my B-days anyways, stealing money, wrecking mess and getting her self into trouble right around my bday. I don't expect anything to happen because it's not.

I like to get a group of friends together and get wasted. I guess you could call that a party. Actually, my birthday's this weekend so we'll be doing that I guess. I definitely like the positive attention you get at your own birthday party. Everyone wants to talk to you, or hang out with you, or take shots with you.

I heard a quote the other day from a famous scottish comedian. He said the he doesn't like Birthday Parties unless it's somebody elses, and i whole heartedly agree.
lets be 100% honest here.

- Celebrating that you are older? How many people find this a positive thing? I don't, I'd rather spend the day hiding in a hole, in bed and resenting that i've aged, that seems honest to me.

- You have to organise it, or your family does for you, you have to organise food, clean up afterwards.

- You may not even be that close with your family, I think this plays a big part in whether you want a birthday party or not.

- You are obliged/forced to be the center of attention for the whole day, you are then either filmed or photographed as you blow at candles and make a speech.

- The gifts are a nice touch

- Its nice to see people coming together,

I don't know, i just think personally the cons outweigh the pros.

Never had a birthday celebration since I was 4 (about that age). Sometimes I even forget when my birthday is.
