So I ended up going to the after party at work. I was gonna bail, but my friend ended up working that night, and she was feeling worse as the day wore on so I wanted to cheer her up - I made her some fake blood to wear, and brought a song for the DJ to play, that I knew she wanted to hear.
By the time I got there, she no longer had intentions to stay for the party and she just wanted to go home cause of her migraine. So instead of being with the party, I just handed over my song, walked back into the restaurant, and helped her clean up for the night, and we bitched and moaned together about work. Meanwhile, a dancing blind guy tried to grind on her as she was crossing the dance floor to put away the mop, a guy dressed in a banana suit was shaking his junk in the most hilarious way, some old people got down to "I Like Big Butts" Heath Ledger's Joker hit on me 2x, and I made some surprisingly witty comments, which I thought I wasn't capable of.
Then she said she probably needed to eat something and I remembered I had cupcakes in my car, that I never brought into the actual party. We spent the rest of the time (til her ride showed up) away from everyone in the parking lot pigging out on cupcakes and watching Banana Man stumble out, declare he was hammered, and urinate 20 feet in front of us.
Never did hear her song played (the Exorcist theme), but we took solace in the fact that it's probably gonna get played later, and maybe some of the assholes at work won't like it and will have to suffer through it.
Overall, I'm glad I went, even though I wasn't exactly social. I had some bonding time with a friend (who I really need cause friends don't come easily to me these days) and a few laughs. And it wouldn't have happened if either of us had actually wanted to be there.
