Sweet Amnesia

Ronald Rood said that
"Human beings are born with just two basic fears. One is the fear of loud noises. The other is the fear of falling. All other fears must be learned. "

So based on that theory Social Phobia is something that we have all developed (everyone must agree with that). Getting amnesia should wipe the slate clean.

What's everyones thoughts on this? Would you be willing the trade all your memories for a fresh start?

Only problem is targeting the correct area of the brain and not causing brain damage either.

At all of our cores, is a character built buy his/her life experiences. I'd love a new slate. But like Noca said, this kinds of surgery are risky. I don't really think it's worth it.

Peace

I don't think babies are scared of falling. Mom and dad's arms are a long way up and babies don't seem to mind being up there. (Completely unrelated and irrelevant, I know).

I'm not going to try and hit myself on the head with a frying pan. I was just curious if people would be willing to lose all their memories to be anxiety free.
I don't think I would. My life might be pretty bland but I've got some great ones.

i watched a documentary the other week on "fear" and how it controls people, one of the testing methods was giving a patient a helmet to wear that was wired and the impulses were analysed and based on that they gave the patient medication or a scan that took away the fear derived from their brain activity ..

before the test the patient had to list their biggest fears as well.

That sounds really interesting Richey. Do you remember what channel it was on? I was thinking I might try and see it on iplayer if it was on BBC. :)

I would in a heartbeat. It's not an overstatement to say I have zero priceless memories to lose. If I woke up tomorrow in a strange place with amnesia it might be the best thing that ever happened to me. God that sounds melodramatic.

There's always the chance I'd turn out the same, but I couldn't end up worse.

Darwin once said that only strongest creatures survive and rest of them die because of natural nature and strongest genes or something like that :)

Yeah well Darwin is dead, screw his natural nature.

(I am kidding please don't take offense I don't need any more enemies.)

If I lost my memories then I wouldn't be able to remember my Grandmother, and how she used to teach me to play guitar, I wouldn't be able to remember how to draw, or the birth of my children, or all the places i've been that were beautiful. I think i've gotten to know myself pretty well, and I do have some great memories. I'll take the bad with the good I guess.

Its cool that a few people certainly wouldn't change things maybe even for the better. I think it shows true character and acceptance.
