Eye Contact Trick: Look at someone's Ear. People won't notice the difference.

TRY IT! lol.

I did it on my sister, and she was completely convinced I was staring directly at her eyes.

I also used it on a lady worker at Home Depot earlier today and I was actually able to maintain a conversation (granted home improvement related) without feeling too nervous. I think I also exuded a sense of confidence that made it easy to talk to me.

Overall, I think this is one of those tricks that should be in any social phobes tool box. It works best when you initiate the conversation by directly looking at the ears. Don't move your eyes back and forth too much. But even if you do, your eyes will simply look like they're refocusing. People will still believe you are maintaining direct eye contact! Fool proof trick imo.

Friend told me this trick earlier this week, and I didn't actually believe it until I tried it myself.

I usually look at the point where their eyebrows would meet if they had a unibrow. Then I do my best to picture them with one. But I'll have to try your method next time I'm out and about. I mean, if it's good enough for a god, it could be good enough for me, too. Right?

It is funny that I have bad social anxiety but i have no problems at all with eye contact. i can look at people in the eye forever, and i dont feel nervous or anything.

I'll certainly give this a go myself. I find it extremely hard to make eye contact with anyone-even friends and family.::(:

For some reason, whenever I try something like that, I burst into laughter lol. I've tried it with noses before & couldn't not laugh. I have no idea why, it's just hysterical to me ::p:.

One thing that helps me in non formal Place/situations is wearing sunglasses,I can look anywhere and everyone, actually they get more anxious than me,but of course this is kinda of masking.
