Sleeping definitely helps for me. I usually irrationally make things out to be bigger than what they actually are when I'm in a certain state, so sleeping just takes that away. I can think a bit clearer when I wake up, even if I'm still not in the greatest of spirits. Also, my kitty. As soon as my kitty jumps on me and gives me a little nudge, I feel sooooooo much better, it's weird but in the nicest of ways. And finally YouTube - Sufjan Stevens - Sister has been making me feel pretty good lately.

Yeah, I would agree that sleep makes a difference. Also, music, movies, art and writing. Maybe just doing something productive. I used to have a history of doing other self destructive things in order to cope, though.

Well, if I had an answer, I would give one. For me, I suppose it is mainly distracting myself from the pain so that it may be bottled into my unconscious and thus the pain is below the surface instead of immediate. Music, work, reading, all tends to assist me in that. Stress relief by listening to the music tends to calm me somewhat as well. I would suggest doing an activity that you enjoy doing, feel comfortable with, and have the ability to express yourself or dwell on other thoughts with.
