What is NOT having Social Anxiety

Do you think not having social anxiety means being loud, hyperactive?

Because i know people who are not like loud or hyperactive, but is certainly not SA, more like they are just calm and collected people.

what is your thought?

Not having social anxiety means not having social anxiety. Your natural, true personality will shine through without being smothered by SA.

I have SA and poor social skills, but the people who I get on with have called me a people person, friendly etc... probably 'cos around them I don't feel SA.

Some people are just naturally shy and quiet.

I hate loud ppl. Idiots, raised by idiots, whose greatest achievement is to shout at ppl and think they're clever.

Agression, laziness and stupidity are the worst attrubites of any creature

No, I think it means feeling relaxed.

I was sitting in a plane a few weeks back. I felt relaxed for the first time in years, and I thought that is what feeling relaxed feels like. It was a novelty after about ten years of full on panic and anxiety.

my thought is that not having social anxiety means you don't get anxious in social situations

or at least the anxiety you may feel doesn't interfere with your ability to interact socially and/or doesn't have a negative impact on your life

it's not about your personality

I feel, in a general sense, that it is basically the feeling of being at peace with ones self in a situation that demands social....competence (cant think of the right word :x) And like another poster mentioned, the feeling of being relaxed

Sorry but people who are loud are not idiots. Some people are just loud and outgoing, it's part of their personality. I would have to add that being angry and judgmental are also two very bad qualities to have.

I would have to say that quiet does not mean you are anxious. Some people are just natural introverts. I think not having SA would mean you are comfortable enough around other people that you are free to be as you are, whether that's loud and outgoing or quiet and mellow.

The bolded. Everyone, or most everyone, experiences anxiety in certain social/performance situations - zero anxiety in any socialness is a mcguffin. It's when it does what coyote said, that's when it's a big problem.

Agreed with this.

Im curious as to what a "normal" person thinks and feels on day to day situations. Surely everyone is shy or reserved once in a while. I would say that many people perhaps even fake being outgoing and social just because of the circumstances (eg. work). Others perhaps just enjoy the company of others.

Personally, I feel like I only have SA when at work (forced to get along with everyone), or when in groups of people who are more outgoing than me. I dont feel any anxiety at all talking to random strangers, going out in public, hanging around friends, or basically in situations where I dont feel like Im being judged.

No. Anxiety is not a personality trait. There are some loud, hyperactive people who experience anxiety. I've seen people who talk more when they're anxious and can't shut up. Look up introversion vs. extroversion.

Agree with your first statement. Every time I hear someone speaking above a normal voice, I get pissed off.

I don't think laziness is a bad attribute really. I'm lazy for 85% of the day besides gym/school.

I think not having SA is not so much about feeling less anxiety. It's about desiring social interaction more then the fear of it. You can't desire and have fear at the same time. Everyone gets to choose which they want to focus on.

I can be hyperactive and have social anxiety - don't count on the loud part, though.

To answer the question, I'm not sure. Outgoing/Extroverted Confidence, I assume, isn't having social anxiety. Willing to socialize non-stop and enjoying it at that, and all that.
