What have you had the most success with?

Two things have helped me.

1. Nardil. Extremely helpful, but the side-effects were so unbearable I had to quit.

2. Lamictal. What I am currently on. It was kind of an outside the box idea from my doctor because it is not typically prescribed for anxiety, but it has been like night and day for me. The side-effects for me are minimal for me, and the results are extraordinary.

1- Diet (gluten-free, lactose-free, sugar-free, processed-food-free) and regular exercise and outdoor got me out of depression, brain-fog, derealisation and a couple of physical symptoms that were making me miserable without me noticing

2- Building self-esteem through self-accomplishment (getting good at a sport, a music instrument, fixing problems without help, in order to get proud of self, so that you can realize you're not a failure in spite of what you think people might think of you)

Both are helping to overcome SA as a collateral result

For me I take Seroquel and Prozac. Diet and exercise. I got a part-time job at a store which has been sort of like exposure therapy for me and has been helpful. I also enjoy the bit of freedom it gives me along with some of the things I have been learning while on the job. Chatting with other people online.

When it comes to the meds-

Seroquel helps me go to sleep and keep a normal schedule. It's an anti-psychotic and helps me with the paranoia/ delusions I get along with the feeling that nothing is real.

Prozac to help with the depression and make me feel better. I'm not actually sure if it's working the Prozac but I take it anyway.

I don't think the meds I took ever helped with the SA much, although with other things. I know this is going to sound awful, but alcohol actually helped me. It helped me sort of break through a barrier and give me somewhere to work from. I don't drink to help me socialize or put myself out there anymore, it was just a good jumping pad.


You want to know how I got these scars?
Being aware of my own thinking patterns.
Not expecting others to have the same awareness.
Hoping to find others that do.

Chemicals have never helped me. They actually set me off once

Other than what pacific loner mentioned doing a gut cleanse and probiotics make a huge difference for me

supplements for mental well-being, b-vitamins, Omega fish oil, extra-virgin olive oil, sesame seeds do well for my mind, vitamin d (cholecalciferol)
herbs, turmeric, curry powder
diet, try to not eat bad oils/fats, preservatives, artificial flavors and colourings, not too much meat, limit to no dairy, caffeine, alcohol, tobacco, gluten; fruits and vegetables but not too much fruit
exercise, I do aerobics, light weights exercise, the arm rotations; lying down exercises, crunches, bicycle; stand up jumping jacks, plank
