webcam.. chat? I never accept the invite..

Hi,

So .. Someone just sent me an invite to turn my webcam on..
An old classmate wanted to see me.. And I said I had to go..
So I went offline.. I never feel good enough to turn on my cam.
Because I'm afraid I'll mess it up.. Like embarras myself.
And I feel so stupid about going offline.. But I don't know what to do


How about you guys, do you feel good while turning on the cam?
Sometimes I wish I could be like them, just relax, and act cool.
But I get nervous, and say stupid things (I HATE video calls)

I always end up saying, sorry. I have to go. And turn it off.
And now I don't even want to accept the invite..
Because it makes me feel really nervous.

No way - I'd never do that. I worked out today that I don't even like phone conversations. Mrs Phocas called and I cut her short because I wasn't enjoying it. I used to think I wasn't any good at that type of communication but its simply that I don't like it.

Say you don't have a webcam. Make sure your settings for cams are off. ::
But why are you afraid of chatting with an old friend ? You're showing your SA/song,.. vids all over the world !

I only turn the cam on with a very narrow group of people. Two people to be exact. Same thing with voice chat for that matter. Heck, I don't even like instant messengers in text only because it's too much exposure. ;P

I actually have more problems with a webcam chat than a face to face conversation. I hate seeing myself while chatting.

Is there like a function that you can set so people can't send you the invites?

I have not used the webcam with many, mostly with a web friend who lives overseas, and then once with an uncle who recently migrated.

I am not sure what your anxiety with the webcam is, but if it is with how you might appear on camera, one suggestion is to set up your webcam at a brightly lit area. That way, flaws are glossed over and minimized greatly.

I got used to webcam chatting thanks to chatroulette and stickam. Doesn't really bother me too much anymore.
