Sooo yea...this got sprung on me from left field.

Were hiring a temp person at work here, i knew this part was coming, what i DIDNT know is she starts to - freaking - morrow !!!

So apparently im going to be training this person....yikes. Ive never EVER been in any kind of position like this before, and suddenly when i try to think of stuff im drawing a blank.....pulse is a bit elevated. Im nervous.

Im also LESS nervous because its a woman. I dont know why, but i just have such an easier time relaxing around women....im hoping that will take the edge off, but right now im really anxious about tomorrow,

Don't try to think about it so much. I'm sure you'll do great. When I have to train new people at my job I just let them watch me for a bit then I show them hands on the obvious tasks and just tips and tricks.
Half the time they're really nice too and just as nervous to start a position as you are to train them, but you'll do great. Good luck :)

Like Iluv said, don't think about it too much. Just tell her what you know and you'll be fine. Odds are she'll be more nervous than you.

Training someone else about the things I'm already good at or familiar with makes me feel like I have control over the situation and therefore makes me feel a little less nervous. The person you're training has no knowledge of the job and is vulnerable and probably more nervous than you. Maybe you could think of it that way..?

Nothing like advance notice, eh!

I don't mind training people, but unless I have time to prepare, I tend to forget stuff that I do all the time. It's like it becomes so automatic, I really have think about the process - lol!

Oh Gunman, you're having to deal with all sorts of work-related crap aren't you?

I'm sorry you're having such a rough time, particularly when you're still recuperating.

The person you're training has no knowledge of the job and is vulnerable and probably more nervous than you. Maybe you could think of it that way..?

Astute.

ok, so, today is going steady thus far. Im nervous as junk but i think im doing a good job of hiding it...my shakes are minimal. I had to remind myself to eat lunch because im so internally wound up i have no apetite.

Shes nice, and has some experience, and im not nearly as wound up as i would be if this were a guy. So this is ok.

Im tired though, didnt sleep last night. going to sleep like the dead tonight i suspect.

She was actually really confident, and a little older than me, which made me on edge slightly, but she was really good about everything and i think were going to get along just fine.

it IS good to have the help. we really need it. Im so burnt out, ive been pulling 14-16 hour days for quite a while now, and my body is starting to say "enough!"

That's awesome that the two of you are going to get along well. It makes it easier for both parties.

Yeah, 14 hour days are torture. You need to rest, mate, considering the accident you were in not long ago.
