To all girls.

Maybe something more acceptable could be creating a simple survey and asking people to try out your survey... maybe for a school project or something like that? That's decent SA exposure. Hmm.. or maybe a survey about social anxiety and say it's for an online project.. something like that.

I don't think people will be creeped out by that.

I wouldn't do this to women exclusively if I were you... we're the ones who have to be more careful about where we go and whom we talk to, just in case we could get hurt.
Most women would probably give you a weird look and walk away, but there are the few who could get more defensive than that.

A good approach would be to smile and act like it's a joke a couple of seconds after the person starts looking at you funny, reassuring them.

I don't quite see why behaving inappropriately is a good solution to social anxiety... sure, it might expose you to more social situations. But working on acting normally would give you more practice behaving appropriately. And people won't point you out as "the creeper who wants people's hair". xD

I'm already the creeper that people ignore, so it can't get worse if they think I want their hair. lol

Would you like it if someone did that to you? People have a right to live their life without being used for target practice. Treat others as you would be treated, golden rule.

Ya well once that golden rule is followed i'll follow it, but with people how they are why waste my time being kind to those who aren't kind to others. If they're not kind then they want me to be not kind as well. Exactly what you're saying tbh.

ahh... considering you had both seen that episode- I would see the humor in it and assume you were joking. Not a big deal.

If you were to actually ask someone randomly if you could have some of their hair for your collection- it depends on how much of a tightwad they are; if they laugh or scream and run away.
haha

I think I'm missing the point that people are making about it being wrong to joke about collecting hair with people. I don't understand... it's a joke, right? Asking a random stranger who looks on edge if you could rip out some of their hair to make a voodoo doll would be taking it too far- yes... but asking a friend who has SEEN the joke you are referencing; as a JOKE is not rude at all.

Yes yes it is a joke. I do NOT have a hair collection. lol. But I couldn't be sure that they saw it because it wouldn't be her.

The problem is people might think the joke is on them. They might not want to talk to you more because they think you're picking on them or something.

I think we're all afraid to negatively affect anybody's lives for our own purpose
Correct me if i'm wrong, this is a part of the fear that LonelyWonders wants to overcome?
The possibility of acting so socially unacceptable that somebody becomes negatively affected, as one would be negatively affected when creeped out?
It is their choice and responsibility on how to handle a comment such as "Can I have some of your hair for my collection".
It is difficult to get unbiased opinions on this from others who share this fear

Well i will ask u if isn't easier go to "Hairdresser" and pick there some pieces on the floor because they anyway don't need them haha. And u will have a lot of them man? And if i will ask u if u are super collector ? U may find there some really super pieces? Why going around and ask is too hard :)

Now seriously don't do this because many girls will think u are shalalala if u know what i mean. Like weirdo or just smile or give u weird look as was above mentioned. Ask for something else maybe try make some "demand" about anything like for school subjects, or giving leaflets?

Most people get that from me by looking at me, honestly the girls in my town I can care less about. I'm not a fan of the type of people they are from what I have seen at least, and besides I don't go to school with anybody in my town. I go to a tech school a couple towns over because of the abuse these people use to give me, now they don't even remember me. They're one of the reasons that my SA started to grow.. In a way it would be like confronting the beast that i'm truly afraid of.

Eh- if you wanna do it then do it. Tell us how it goes.

Maybe it'll be a good conversation starter (I need some of those!)

If it is then I really would want to move. O.O

Haha Good point.

But then I'm confused, why are you thinking of asking people? You shouldn't get smacked or anything like that but if you don't think people are going to talk to you, what do you get out of it?

Ok, really this has nothing to do with social anxiety, other than the gut wrenching fear I have to do this.

Ok, well I spend all night talking to people online, and theres this one girl I talk to all the time, and we watch shows together (like at the same time).

Well last night, we were watching King of the Hill and Bills like "My names Bill Dauterive. I would be honored if I could have some of your hair for my collection. (Hank: Bill what are you doing?! Bill: Flirting.)

Alright well, today when I get back to town I HAVE to do that, and I wanted to know what to brace for.

So what would you do if somebody randomly came up to you and asked that??

Sorry in advance for posting this.
I m not a girl but if you need hair I have plenty, but not on my head mostly back and chest lol. Not kidding lol. I really need to get a real life lol. I know tmi creepy hey everyone needs to laugh.
