FYI all SPWer's:

my brother has 'the flu'...the one that is spreading like wildfire and he GOT his flu shot this year, went to the doctor on Thursday, they tested him for the 2 strains of flu that the vaccination covers but he has a different strain and he has been sick in bed since Thursday. He's not able to go back to work all week (M-F) due to this.

So just be careful out there!

Some of the Symptoms include:

Headache
Fever
Vomiting
Cold sweats
Hot sweats
Headache
Body Aches
Fatigue

!

I am suffering from it myself as we speak and yes, it's a very nasty strain! I've had a sore throat since Wednesday, slight fever, congestion, chills, and basically feel like I got hit by a freight train. I finally called in sick today because I feel so crappy and can barely talk. I also got the "enhanced" flu shot for healthcare workers and as you can see it didn't help!

We've actually had some relatively young people come into the clinic with pneumonia too, which is very unusual. I think we're in for a long, painful flu season this year!

I already had the stomach flu last month. I was bed ridden for a couple days straight, plus even after getting over the illness itself, the pain from it still lasted another 2 weeks before I was fully healed. Ugh, that was awful.

Seems like every year at college, we have two major illnesses going around. Or at least that's how it was when I showed up. Last year during my first semester, both pneumonia and mono was going around. I got the mono, but I would've MUCH rather had the pneumonia. Oi, that lasted a month. Mono sucks to get rid of.

This semester, the stomach flu and laryngitis was going around. As I said, I got the flu. I would've much rather had laryngitis. I don't talk hardly at all in school anyway, so it wouldn't have made much of a difference.

Hope everyone gets well soon!

^oh, that had to be nasty to get rid of. Sorry to hear about that. Glad your getting better though.

Yup..in college is an optimal place to catch these nasty bugs.

Hope you continue to feel well for the rest of the 'flu season'!!
