Thanks for all your posts guys. To be honest I wasn't expecting quite so many replies but it's nice to hear all your thoughts.

Yes, there is the danger now that this simple compliment has been built up too much to the point I won't even say it. On the other hand, if I do say it I'm gonna keep it short and sweet and then the next time I see her just pretend it never happened! I'm certainly not going to say anything along the lines of "you make my job worthwhile" as imo that's over the top. As I said, I'll keep it simple & short, smile nicely, and move on. At the moment I'm likely to say either "did anyone tell you that you have a nice smile?", or "can I just say that you have a nice smile"...then make a joke about embarrassing myself, wish her a good day and leave!

Haha. Told ya I was a wlaking disaster in communications. I agree, my approach would be acutely embarrasing for all concerned. Good luck.
