My political philosophy is fairly well-defined.
I am, above all else, an anarchist. I think that the burden of proof should always be placed on authority to justify its existence. The burden of proof is not on you. That means any form of authority which has no justification, ala most authority, should be dismantled, and replaced with something more free.
I am vociferously opposed to capitalism. Private ownership of the means of production entails centralizing all the wealth and power in the upper 1%, while everyone else fights over the crumbs. People deserve to run their own lives and equally participate in a democratic society, rather than having to blindly follow orders, like a mindless wage-slave.
Unlike Marxists, who think the best route to economic justice and a classless society is to size political power, I think that the State should be dissolved simultaneously with capitalism. Otherwise you risk placing one form of authority with another, instead of dealing with the root cause.
Will an anarchist society ever materialize? Probably not. It would need to be an international movement on a scale larger than is humanly conceivable, and people, by and large, are simply too brainwashed into accepting the current system. But we can work to improve our lot in the here and now. If capitalism is here to stay, its laissez-faire varieties must be totally demonized, vilified, and abolished wherever they thrive. Markets need to be balanced out with certain government utilities, like education, housing, a social safety net, and so forth. Society must be progressively taxed, that is, tax rates need to increase in proportion to income. Far from discouraging entrepreneurs and economic growth, progressive taxation gives CEOs an incentive to keep their money in their businesses and grow the economy instead of writing themselves enormous bonus checks and stashing the money in tax havens offshore.
In conclusion, I am an anarchist, first and foremost. Also known as a "Libertarian socialist." Second, within the current system, I work towards social-democratic goals. Progressive taxation, social safety nets, the welfare state, regulated trade, unions, etc.
