Sometimes the sentence that came before it isn't even that bad, until 'no offense' is added at the end.

Epic, when used to describe that which is not. In films, at least, the term suggests larger-than-life characters, heroic struggles, and a sense of vastness in both time and space. Lawrence of Arabia? Epic. Doctor Zhivago? Epic. Your three-minute Grumpy Cat compilation on YouTube? Not so much.

This morning, I saw this word applied to . . . wait for it . . . a lettuce-eating contest. h:
