I think there is a difference between how people are online and how they are in the real world.... but that's not a hard and fast rule. I think the internet allows people to be a bit more confident about who they are and what they wish to say.... mostly because there is a degree of anonymity and less accountability.
I think the nature of the internet allows similar types of people to come together very easily. You can say hello to someone online and start a conversation with relative safety, and with a very high chance that they will respond back to you in kind... but in the real world you cant... in the sense that most people that I observe seem to be very closed off and hesitant from interacting with someone with who they are not already familiar with (and that happens online too, but to a lesser extent I think)
Sometimes I think... that the only reason people actually bother with other people is because they HAVE too....
As for whether or not people here would get along with other people in real life... I guess that depends on each person. Most people are pretty friendly (it seems) and can no doubt identify with one another... also I think because bonds form within members in a forum there would be good feelings between members that would transfer in the real world.
But of course... that doesn't mean EVERYONE is going to get along... we are all different, we come from different areas of the world, with different backgrounds, temperaments, ages, ethnicity, personalities, social statuses etc...we all see things in our own unique and very individual way... the only true common factor we have is that we are here for support with our.... social problems.
Thats what I think anyway
