I have been really curious about Solar Panels as a source of energy. I have read that this kind will be more cost efficient in the long run although, you still have to investment a quite huge amount of money to purchase it. My question is, Does anybody here actually have solar panel either at home of workplace? How is the consumption and cost?

I wish.

For the same reason, expense... I have no Solar Tech. I have been looking into cheaper ways to build your own though I question the longevity of them. You would be better off on a more suitable forum for this question I bet.

Scientific American recently had an article on solar. I am too lazy to look for it, but the consensus seems to be that it is now almost cheaper to create your own than to buy it.

Oh, and since solar has started to be installed house fires has increased by around 800% worldwide, mostly due to botched electrical connections. Check your insurance policies and make sure you know an electrician.

Thanks for the feedback. Most people I know told me that having this might be meaning a huge amount will be spend and we can use this as a back-up but not as a main source at home. I have read this different case studies of Ecoult on the use of solar energy but I have not changed my mind yet.

This makes it sound pretty obvious that wind power is better. I know some people will say "but not every day will be windy!" Yes, but not every day will be all sunshines and happiness
