Night Terrors

Hey everyone,

Does anyone else have NT's?. Not to be confused with a simple nightmore or bad dream. Ive had them my whole life. Actually last night, I had a pretty crazy incident....My wife woke up because i was yelling at someone to stay away, and was trying to protect her from somthing only i could see. I never remember anything after it happens and the next day im completely unaware anything DID happen, though ive caught myself on cam quite a few times running around the house.

Apparently when my wife comes to bed after im already sleeping, she has to make little cat noises to keep me calm while she does (we have 3 cats) otherwise, her getting into bed with me will set it off.

Its a really annoying thing akin to being a werewolf. I cant control it, and dont remember it. Some nights it happens and other times not. One time i frightened her badly by suddenly screaming bloody murder, and then went back to sleep. I had absolutely 0 recollection.

I did it once at the inlaws place...and good god i wish that hadnt happened. Its somthing im obviously embarrassed by and apologetic when it happened. Right away her dad brought out the bible and started going on about me being under spiritual attack, ect ect. While i never rule anything out, even if i dont think its the case, ive gone to a few doctors and sleep clinics. MY delta waves are waaaay off the scale when im sleeping, so it def. has somthing to do with that...whatever it is...

Anyways, i just wanted to put this out there. Anyone else have them?>

im sorry to hear you have these attacks must be really hard.

Haha. It's funny people are bringing up diet and sleeping schedule. The reason we (SAD people) still have night terrors is because we are tense, not relaxed. This tension acts as a strangling to our muscles and acts as a chain to hold us down from enjoying life as much as relaxed people. It literally cuts off our air so that we are constantly getting less oxygen than other "normal" relaxed people. Think about it this way, if you were being strangled, would you be thinking positive things? Well that explains the night terrors, the tension strangles us into thinking negative thoughts, and dreams are our thoughts. There are two potential solutions. One is one that i use, jogging. Jogging helps considerably with avoiding night terrors. The other way would be to make a habit of relaxing all the time. I'm not sure if that's possible for someone with bad SA to do, I'm still working on it.

according to some researchers that adults with night terrors may also have a medical history of one of the following problems:

* Depression
* Anxiety
* Bipolar disorder

Maybe you have this historical problems , night terrors in adults are uncommon.

Depression, definately. Ive been diagnosed for it. Putting me on wellbutrin actually settled my NT's down quite alot, but theyre still happen every now and then.

Anxiety, also yes. Not nearly as bad as my hunny, but i have it, and certain triggers. Traumatic events, ect.

Bipolar, no, however there is a history of hyperthyroidism in my moms side.

Believe it or not, its not "hard" in the typical sense, as almost 90% i have no idea anything happened during the night. Sometimes ill have bits and pieces of a memory or just remember feeling deathly terrified of somthign but i can never remember what it was.

Ive seen myself on cam though, and what i do. the way i scream gives me goosebumps. I basically sound like someone being murdered in a particularly horrible and painful way, lol.

If i can find a vid ill post it.
