I went downstairs this morning to get some breakfast and this is what I found in the kitchen:

2 baby bottles filled, uncapped and unrefrigerated.
spilled baby rice cereal on the floor - 2 different spots.
SIL's pump stuff out, filled with the expressed milk, on counter.
I did NOT clean anything up - just got my breakfast and left.
While upstairs, nephew kept trying to wake up my SIL -she was passed out; his dad was still in bed, but 'semi-awake'
Nephew came in my room and said he was hungry so I offered to get him breakfast but he said that daddy told him 'just a few moments'

so the question is: Is it rude of me to not pick up their mess? Just close my bedroom door and do my own thing? (I have homework to do, etc). I get that they have full time jobs and are tired, but I put in my part of the work, right?

*I should note that I had the kids from 3:50 AM - 7:00 PM yesterday - yes, the little one woke up at 3:50 am and did NOT take a nap all day*

It's making me nervous and I feel really bad for my nephew and now I have a bad headache - ugh, I care too much.

You already do more than your share taking care of their kids, so you shouldn't be expected to be their maid too! If you start cleaning up after them, they'll begin to expect it. Don't even go there!

When I make a mess I clean up, its not hard.
You sound as though you do more than your fair share.
I would have done the same as you, its there mess they should clean it.
