Funnily enough, I watched 40 Year Old Virgin the other day and think a lot of it applies to social phobics. Even though the main character doesn't specifically talk about Social Anxiety Disorder, he clearly exhibits the behaviour and describes experiences that are probably familiar to all SA sufferers.

I also found a lot of the advice/help he was offered by his friends quite familiar too, and although it's a screwball comedy I thought a lot of it was extremely true to life. Well, maybe except for the song and dance routine at the end ::p:.

-Amelie is about a very introverted french woman who can't find love
-Rebecca is about a shy girl who is very self consious and compares herself to others
-In Rocky, one of the shy main characters comes to terms with herself
-In Little Women, Beth drops out of school because she "can't take the way people treat her" she also barely says a word during the film =/ she's one of my favorite shy characters of all time
-Edward Scissorhands is about a shy freak

hoped this helped ^^

Housekeeping (1987) - these two girls are orphaned when their mother commits suicide. one of them struggles to fit in with people at school, and the other one gives up - she's really shy and awkward around people. unfortunately it's not on dvd.

It's not about SA, but I found The Blind Side to be a good movie for me. It inspired me to have a better life for myself 'cause it's a true story and it's an amazing movie.

Lost in Translation is about loneliness and it has some awesome cinematography of Tokyo. Plus it stars Bill Murray!
