Knowing peoples names, do you know them?

Yeah, I think its important to use names but unfortunately I've a terrible memory when it comes to remember people's name, I'm also terrible with faces. Oddly enough though I always remember random stuff about them.

99% of the time I remember names, so for some reason I expect other people to be the same...

i don't remember names easily. so i don't care when people don't remember mine. there are worse things in life to be upset about.

It would seem most people are more visual when it comes to remembering who people are. I have more than once been introduced to a dozen or so people one after the other and immediately forgotten their name as soon as I have heard it.
Remembering names takes a degree of memorization, which is why it is so hard to do - I do think though that it is a common nicety, or perhaps courtesy that when someone does take the time to remember your name - that is shows mutual respect, sincerity and warmth. It may not be terribly important per se- but it does illustrate that you are nice person. At least, thats how I see it.

remembering names can be very difficult

luckily, there are endearments like, "babe" or "sweetie"

and you can just use them with everyone

that way, when you forget her name in bed, it's not so awkward

LOL! people always forget my name. They remember my face but call me every name you can think off. Then once I remind them of my name they remember the main part but add letters to the end :/ I think ill just get it changed.

But I know how they feel. When i went to college there was this really nice girl who was always nice to me and she apparently knew me pretty well. she knew my name and everything. I could place her face in my memory just not her name. So we really did have conversations for about 2 years without me ever saying her name at all. I never got caught ether. :) <---slick
