Journals?

Does anyone read the journals that people post here? I'd like to do one, but I'm not sure anyone would be interested. It seems a little.... I don't know, narcissistic? I know that's not why people do them, I just feel bad about it, like I think I'm so important or something. I don't know. I mean, not everyone here can write a journal or there would be too many..... right? Or am I wrong?

I like the idea of doing one though, because it would be kind of like having a talk with someone about all the things going on in my head. Well, I guess that's the whole point anyway...... so, yeah.

To be honest, I don't really read a lot of them in their entirety. But I don't find them narcissistic at all. If that's something you think would benefit you, then go for it! I've also thought about doing one, but haven't really decided to on the forum.

I think it would be soooo excellent if there were a section of our profiles for blogging.

Even though I don't normally reply to them, I sometimes read them. I see where you're getting at with the whole "narcissistic" thing. I thought about doing a journal on here too since I already write one myself. But then I go back to thinking that I must be self-centered for posting one.

If you want to do one, then you should do one. You should do it so you have a place to get your thoughts out in. Don't do it just because you want people to read things.

You can always make a journal at one of the other journal sites that they have out there and link it in your signature for people to go and read if they want.

I agree with Luna though, there should be a place on our profile for journals.

I would definitely read your journal!

You know, the whole reason I started a journal is because I am (still) scared to talk about myself because I feel 'selfish' and obnoxiously narcissistic. Sometimes I don't come on this site for a week just because I've posted a long post about myself that seems really too 'out there'. It's extremely difficult every time I post but I imagine eventually it will be easier. Maybe it's worth a shot? I imagine those who can relate to some of the things that you think will take interest in reading your journal!

It's a great challenge and it actually can teach you a lot :). If you're a person who is scared to express themselves then it's an absolutely great starting exposure. Anyways it's definitely not narcissistic, because where else do we friendless people have to express ourselves? Also it teaches you that others won't be turned away when you start to 'exist', with both flaws and highlights out there. Ever feel like nobody cares about what you have to say? That's the fear that it challenges. Put it out there anyways! Or, usually you'll find that a few special people do!

Oh, just post one. It doesn't matter if they read it or not as long as you express your feelings. I for one, have a journal here but I've updated it a long time ago since I became inactive here. I made that journal as a therapy thing for me but was surprised that people read them and even comment. So you do it too. You're just too conscious maybe to think that it's being narcissistic. :)

I think it's more about personal reflection than any sort of plea for attention.

For some people it helps to organize your thoughts on paper to help make sense of them all.

Plus, a little friendly critique can go a long way when you feel stuck.

Thanks for the responses, everyone. I think I may just do one.

Yeah I think it's personal reflection not a plea for attention. Not that occasionally that isn't true. It's more for me than anything I don't explain much background just go with it.

I tend to read and respond to ppl I know, hate being biased but for myself I do a journal not expecting anyone to read it. I find those interested are friends or if they spend the time to read and respond any comment is worthwhule and if not, I don't care it helps to get things out and not just filed away in a word file or notebook that'll never be read besides for example like EA's journal is helpful to me to read in my own. And anyone who's responded is helpful.

If don't think ppl will read it and you want to do it nothing to lose by doing it. I'm sure you'll find more ppl reading your than you think.
