In America, if you're not extroverted and talkative, you're an outcast

Maybe it's just because I am introvert, but I think introverts a much more interesting and intriguing. Perhaps it is because they have that element of mystery about them. For some reason, someone who cannot shut their mouth and feels the need to disclose everything that is going through their head, every waking moment are actually boring, exhausting and uninteresting to me.

I feel the same way. Unfortunately most people just aren't patient enough (or secure enough?) to embrace introverts :/

It's a problem with human nature. Since 78% of people are outgoing, they tend to prefer themselves so to speak.

A study was done recently showing that introverts can be better than extroverts at certain jobs. Hold on, i need to go find that article.....

I have been picked on for being introverted and quiet more than a few times, but some people actually prefer me that way and have told me that I have a calming presence. It really depends on who you are around. Quiet people are actually more suitable for certain jobs than those who are more extroverted, so depending on the situation, sometimes it is in your favor to be introverted. In an office full of introverts, had I been extroverted and talkative, I probably would have annoyed the heck out of my introverted coworkers while I was at a past job.
