How do you relate with...

Animals and babies? They sorta look at me and expect me to play with them, but I don't really know what to do. I'm awkward around things that can't even talk back!! Haha.

How about you?

Yes i get that! but with babies and little children only. i get rigid, and i'm not very welcoming so i'd probably freak them out trying:p - And when your expected to say something about a baby like 'oh so cute'... can't fake that either. To me they look like bobble heads.

I enjoy the company of dogs usually, since if we have guests or anything then I can turn my attention to the dog and sort of have an excuse to block out anything else. Same counts when I'm going for a walk, if I have a dog with me I can usually avoid those nasty "Where the hell do I look, how do I walk, oh shit!" thoughts.

Doesn't count for all dogs though, but find me a dachshund and we'll be best-friends right away :p

I wish I had a dog where I live now. :?

I love animals, and you don't need to know how to talk to animals do you? I'm terrified of babies and young children, i don't know why but i'm afraid that i will scare them o'r something and i haven't a clue how to interact with them.

I love animals too, but I don't always know how to interact with them when people are around. If I had a cat or dog, I'd probably just talk to them like how I talk to myself, but if people were around it would be completely different, wouldn't it?

lol yea. I'm scared of making babies cry. So I feel kinda awkward, but I don't think I act very awkward.

I love kids, I find them very easy to talk to, especially toddlers, they're so funny. :D I love babies too - well if they're over about 6 months, I find under that age they're a bit boring and I don't feel too confident holding them.

Don't feel too comfortable with kids once they get past the age of about 10 or 11 tho.

It's animals I don't really relate to. Cats are ok but I don't trust dogs (unless they're really old or really soft).

oh man, the baby thing freaks me out. Like i find it pretty depressing a baby can act more social and normal than me..and yeah, if a baby or small child starts smiling and getting all cute around me in a waiting room or something..it feels awkward 8O

my cousins kid is scared of me, I think it was the fact that every time she sees me i have different colour hair but she can't seem to work me out

I am afraid of babies..i don't know how to hold them, how to talk to them, what to do....but animals that's a different story. I loveeee animals and like LostViking said, i can sort of turn my attention to the animal and avoid awkward social situations....
But babies are too fragile and i think i'm afraid of hurting them or something and i mean if you hurt a baby..omg that's like the most horrible thing you could do in a social situation. I would wanna just be buried lol

All you have to do is smile and make funny faces. They usually smile back or just don't respond which is better than them getting scared of you. If the kid is like 5-10 just talk to them like a normal person, they usually are more "aggressive" when it comes to socializing, lol.
12-ish and they're already adult-like enough that they don't fall into the children category in terms of interacting with them, imo.

I've never really like animals.

Kids are easy because the social pressures aren't really there. I suck at small-talk and forming friendships, so that doesn't really apply to kids. Whenever I've formed friendships with children, I was acting more as a mentor/father-figure than anything. Babies and animals are easy, too, unless other people are around, especially the parents/owners. I'm a father myself, so I don't have that general fear of babies that some non-parents have. However, when it comes to dogs or babies, I'm always afraid of how the owner or parent will judge my interacting with them. One amusing tidbit is that I'm always afraid parents will think I'm some sort of pedophile if their little girl starts crawling all over me--even though I have no inclination whatsoever towards that sort of thing. On a broader note, I always assume people think I'm some sort of sexual deviant because I'm so socially awkward. I don't know why I make that connection, and I don't know why I think they are either. I mean, I've got my kinks, but I'm probably less of a pervert than most. I guess I'm kinda weird that way.
