You really just have to get over it. Even if someone came to you and 'dragged' you out of the house, you'd still be afraid and paranoid. The change has to come from within yourself. Figure out what's rational and what's silly, and filter your own thoughts. We get fed negativity almost constantly, and it's our own job to focus on the good, instead of the bad.
I used to not even be able to take out the trash, when I was at my worst. Took me a few years to realize that there is so much beauty out there, and that there is no time to waste being afraid of it. Live your life. As Mark Twain said, twenty years from now you'll regret the things you did not do more than the things that you did do.
