Haunted by crazy person

Three years ago I met at university one guy. He was a bit like me, a loner and quite interesting fellow. But after one year he started to get weird because of his obsessions with left wing politics. When he discovered that I have different views on politics he started to brainwash me but I fought back. It all went bad when he humiliated me on the internet. But just after few months when I met him again he again posed as best friend and stated that he is free from his obsessions. Than this spring he again acted weird and fell in love with one girl who was just using and deceiving him. He almost failed at finishing university unless I have not helped him. But he was accusing me of doing bad for his "girlfriend" and acted like paranoid. Than again he turned good and said that he was free from his love obsession. Now some weeks ago he again wrote me a crazed letter that he joined a socialist party. The letter was so obsessive that I decided to quit ties with him forever. But he still called me to offer free tickets to soccer that I declined. He again sent a letter yesterday begging to be my friend despite his political carrier. I recently learned that he openly insulted our professor and threatened to close down history section of university when he would came to power.

This is guy is totally paranoid and crazy and he keeps haunting me and stalking me. I am afraid that he will keep this up as long as I live. I might have to kill him to make him stop. And if he came to some governmental post for real I could not imagine what he would do. He is worser than Hitler.

Is there is some advice from you friends how to deal with this monstrosity?

Well... I doubt such people would come to power. Dictators tend to have the ability to be charismatic at will and be successful at it. I'd think to just keep your distance from him and occupy yourself with work/studies.. so that when he asks you out (or whatever) you'll just be too busy to consider it...

i think this advice is spot on! exactly what i think too, if you do get harrassed by him more maybe worth reporting him for your own safety?

I also think he is too unstable to come to power in normal way. I blocked him so he could send me those messages. As long he does not do any real harm I will not report him. But he still scares me.

Any type of reaction, social engagement, acknowledgement that you're anything but indifferent to what he's doing will ultimately feed his fire.

If you don't want anything to do with this person, then do how it sounds.

How about getting a restraining order? Or a good old fashioned ass kicking? I don't know how the law works in Latvia, but I'm sure that you could go to the police and tell them that this head case is stalking you.
