Hate being asked to do things!

Since a young age and being the youngest of the family, I seemed to be the go-to-guy if anything needed doing. Items needed retrieving in the house or doing bits and pieces here and there.

I thought when my elder siblings were married that would stop.

It has to some degree but I still get asked to do things at the age of 26 and I fricking hate it! Especially tasks that are pain-stakingly slow and means I have to go out of my way to do them.

Sadly, I can't utter the elusive word - NO to a request.

I feel like screaming that at the top of my lungs when I get asked to do somethng I don't want to do but can't!

People I guess, take advantage once they know someone will not say no or doesn't have the balls too.

You just have to pluck up the courage to say no but in a polite way. To be honest my brother in law never says no, so I know if I need a favor I can ask him first and probably won't have to ask any further. If he said no though I wouldn't mind at all I would just ask someone else.

I was the youngest of two brothers who were married when I was born

I was left to myself to wander abut and find something to do. I often explored the forest by myself, getting lost and calling for a hitchhike to get home

I lived my life alone with parents who didn't care. I learned everything by myself with a zest beyond just school, teaching parents what they didn't know but weren't interested

I keep trying a new boss, but having the same relationship where they just don't want to listen, and just look the other way. That's everyone.

Now I feel I should be helping out my Dad, about to turn 90. He is 75 miles away and all by himself

Funny. It's the opposite here. I ask if I can help and they don't allow me.

You don't have to be rude to say no. A simple "sorry, I don't feel well" "I don't feel up for it right now" should do.

My brother often ask me to do chores for him such as printing, scanning, finding stuff, proofreading his writing, making decisions for him, etc. Even if I told him I don't want to, he still forces me. He will keep pestering me until I do it. I have learned the hard way that saying no to him means risking peace and happiness. He's good at punishing people. Might as well do it and get it over with.
