Okay. I posted about this in the random thoughts thread, but I was so excited and think this is SO FREAKING COOL that I had to make a new thread.

They're completely free, they provide you with all the materials. Taught by real professors, many courses are from MIT, Berkeley, etc. I registered for this biology course as a refresher, which starts in three days:

You should sign up for the site. Even if you don't want to take a class now, you never know if you might see something that interests you and want to learn more. I think most of the courses are two months or so in length. And you get an online certificate thingy. Don't know what it's good for, but sounds cool to me! :D

I love stuff like this. I go on YouTube and watch lectures from Stanford, Yale and Harvard. They don't provide materials and there is no certificate but I learn a lot i.e Philosophy, religion, Psychology etc.

There is Coursera as well which is world wide https://www.coursera.org/
I sampled a couple last year on Nutrition and Music Technology, both pretty good but I never completed them.
I've got an Introduction to Philosophy one starting on Coursera soon so hopefully I'll stick this one out.

I did a Genetics and Evolution course on Coursera just for fun a couple of years ago which was pretty nice. Free education is slowly growing as an increasing number of professors start to share their lectures on the world wide web. This philosophy is particularly popular in the field of Computer Science where you can easily find complete programs of classes online, giving you the same knowledge that a Bachelor would. A bunch of my teachers are personally distributing their lectures online for anyone to see.

Do any of you know if Saylor.org courses are any good? It seems they have pretty detailed courses (just as if you were in actual university), but I don't know about the quality of them.
