i don't know if anyone else has or is having this experience but, can anxiety be linked with being forgetful?
the other day, i was eating and i guess i must have thrown out the container in the trash, but, i dont remember doing it? i am also on lorazepam and was thinking maybe it was a side effect..

its kind of scary..sometimes i cant remember things i did 5 min ago...but most of those things are insignificant anyway.

I have found that lorazepam is the worst benzo for forgetfulness. Also anixety can make you forget things, if your mind is racing it is so easy to overlook something mundane, like shutting a window before you go out. Nearly every night I forget to turn the heating off, then get into bed and think" Blimey it's hot!". Obviously I don't have this problem in summer, that is replaced with forgetting to shut windows! I also leave the oven on after I have finished cooking. Just adding to my HUGE carbon footprint!

Bad memory/forgetfulness is a big problem for me to. Both in everyday life and more important at when studying and now at work (I am in knowledge based profession).

When ever I have discussed this with my docs, they have told me the problem has always been due to anxiety I can't concentrate.

I am not so sure, as I have trouble recalling and remembering things when I not anxious at all. The other reason is I think at least in my case I think partly its hereditary.

I too have wondered what is the effect of the medication that I am having/had (mainly Moclobemide based). Although somebody else who is taking the same (in another forum) complained about bad memory while taking moclobemide, I can't find any reference to memory loss as a side effect.

I suppose the bottom line is that its a big problem, that is causing difficulty with my recovery from SP and causing stress (especially at work).

I have done so many stupid dumb things in the last two weeks, mostly involving forgetting things. I feel like someone has removed half my brain. Is 20 too young for early onset dementia do you think? i'm starting to worry. :?

Often I'll put my keys or phone down and almost instantly forget where I put them! Also, I have no grasp of time and the only reason I ever know what the date is, is from seeing it on the computer at work. If I'm not at work for a while I lose all sense of time and just drift. It annoys the shit out of my boyfriend, who doesn't seem to realise that I'm not intentionally this way! :x

I forget to turn the oven off too, but luckily it's electric and not gas. I also lock myself out the house regularly, lose things when I go out and sometimes forget people's birthdays... that last one makes me feel awful

forgetfullness is my middle name, the littlest things drive me crazy trying to remember wher i put them, also with the stove, my dad has now told me to stop cooking when theres no one else in the house.lols! oops!

I can remember long term things pretty well, but my short term memory sucks. I forget about where I put my food/drink too, or if I threw it away, and sometimes I'm not sure if I even ate it or not. I will also forget things that were said like a second ago "uuuhh what are we talking about again????" Oh yeah I remember!!!!! Wait...

Forgetfulness goes hand-in-hand with both S.A and depression. So I wouldn't jump to conclusions such as dementia etc

My short-term memory is terrible...earlier today for example I forgot where the bus stop was, got off at the wrong stop and had to walk 2.5 miles home on crutches

im 24 and i started worrying untill i saw all the responses. i can remember important stuff but the short term memory thing, i have experienced. i too feel like half of my brain has been removed. then again, if im functioning enough to be reading and writing in this forum, i know im ok. it;s those people who believe they are totally sane that you should feel sorry for, not those who doubt their sanity

This can be the medicine's side effect. While you forget the bad events in your past, you also forget small things in your daily life.
Talk to your doctor. If it effects you daily life badly, your doctor will change the medicine.

I forget people's names too, it's mortifying when someone says "Hi Haru!" and I just pause and stare for a moment then say "Hey... you!"

Maybe I need to get myself a notebook too...

I read this and thought but I don't take medication... then I remembered I actually do! Sometimes I don't know whether to laugh or cry  I'm always forgetting to take it too, or taking it twice cos I'm not sure if I took it.
