Does anyone find that music helps them cope with SA/SP?

Whenever I feel really down and depressed because of SocialPhobia I find that listening to my favourite songs/bands on my CD player really helps to cheer me up and it helps me get through the most darkest moments of my life and I feel better :) Infact sometimes I feel almost slightly euphoric after listening to my favourite music :D I just wondered if music helps anyone else to cope with socialphobia. I also actually find that it gives me a little more confidence if I have to go out :) Does your favourite music,songs or bands give you a little bit more confidence to tackle socialphobia? I actually find that it works quite well and recommend that you try it :D

When I go out, I always take my CD player with me. Nothing beats music as a disdraction when u are out. Oh, & I like to play my songs loudly as well. I find that reading on trains or buses help too. :wink:

I have moderate depression. If I have spent the day stuck indoors, I walk to the supermarket with a new album playing. Most recent one I listened to was the Greatest Hits of Miles Davis. Very relaxing, soothing jazz. Very good stuff. Was a reasonably good stress-reliever.

Ha, this reminds me of a post I made here recently;

"Music. I don't know what I'd do without it... I love going to concerts, just hearing and feeling the music in real, than just on a cd. It takes all my worries away and even makes me forget about my SA. Makes me feel like a brand new person. Even if it's just for a little while..."

It really does make me feel more confident and it makes me happier. I like sad songs too, even them can make you feel better sometimes.

In some situations where I'm anxious I even think "BE JOAN JETT BE JOAN JETT. COOL JOAN JETT" lol. Sounds silly ::eek::

I love music but depending on how I am feeling depends on what I am listening to so people smart enough can read my feelings through the current song I have on but no ones caught on except a couple people haha. It makes me feel better then it makes me more upset so it's a so so thing for me.

Music is very important to me. I don't play any instruments or things like that, but I love listening to it and discovering new music I enjoy. During particularly stressful moments, I play it super loud. It is very therapeutic. And when I am out, there is always a song playing in my head to help me if I am feeling anxious. I don't know what I would do without it.

I have a hugley diverse collection of music and I tend to listen to whatever takes me at the time. If I am feeling low however, I tend to listen to really dancy stuff to cheer me up. The only problem with that is if I go too much into the dance scene music like trance or hardcore it makes me angry and this then lowers my mood again. I have to listen to music in small doses because all types of music can invoke all kinds of emotional states.

I never took off my headphones outside when I was in highschool and had no panic attacks,I entered another world and wasn't scared of anything especially once when I was going through a heavy metal phase,I would step out into the world like a boss.But then again our aim is not just that we feel safe,but also try to create relationships.

dead24,

I used to be a death metal freak, now my tastes are a bit more eclectic.

I still love Cryptopsy though. Flo Mouner is one of the greatest drummers of all time in my humble opinion. Right up there with Neil Peart, Buddy Rich, Gene Krupa, and so on.
