Does anyone else suffer from hypochondria?

I seem to have become a full blown hypochondriac and it sucks! Within this month alone I've convinced myself that I had the swine flu, my appendix was going to rupture, and the occasional headaches and dizziness I get are due to a brain tumor. Ahh! Does anyone else constantly obsess over things that could be wrong with them??

Oh yea, heart disease is one for me too. I always wonder if my "panic attacks" are actually some kind of underlying heart condition ::(:

Yea I definitely agree that alot of people probably have it to some degree, but if you already have another anxiety related problem (like we do), it makes it a million times more severe! I mean it's getting to the point where I can't even let a headache pass without going on google and looking up possible kinds of disease's or illnesses I could have.. it's getting totally out of control for me!

I'm a bit of a hypochondriac when it comes to physical things (e.g. the typical "ohmigod-I've-got-a-headache-it-must-be-a-brain-tumour" thing), but the worst thing is my fear of going insane...every week I'm worrying about a new mental illness, reading lists of symptoms and trying to convince myself I have all those things, then asking my family what they think, then getting stressed out when they tell me I DON'T fit those criteria! A while back it was schizophrenia, then it was bipolar, then it was Aspergers, then most recently it's been BPD...

I diagnosed myself with SA but that's different; my parents, a couple of doctors and the counsellor I see at uni actually agree with me, they're just not doing anything about it.

^ Yeah, that's what fuels my worries; I've already got several phobias, depression etc., so I am actually at risk...!

I used to get hypochondria with my panic disorder, as I beat the PD I started to make a concious move to ignore any "slight" physical symptoms that would have triggered off a "hypochondria attack"

I think the two disorders are similar

I just always feel paranoid that I'm getting sick. I can't breathe around sick people in fear that I'll catch whatever they have.
