Do you consider yourself to have high standards for yourself??
I find this to be a common trendd in people with SA, which also makes sense why a lot of people with SA are not bad lookin'.. (If you check the 'post a picture of yourself forum.((who's to say what's 'bad looking'? Oh, well you know what I mean...)) <<double bracket attack!

I think that is the case because low self-esteem goes hand in hand with SA in many cases. Low self-esteem make cause the illusion that someone may have high standards on themselves.

To use your example of peoples pictures. Some people will say they do not look good, which can be taken to mean they feel they do not look as good as they should, but in reality the low self-esteem makes them see there own image in a distorted view then others would.

I'm a perfectionist and me becoming one partly had to do with SA.. and wantin got be the best so nobody would judge u..

Extremelyyyyyyyyyyyyy. In every single aspect of my life. I get into these really optimistic states of mind where I feel like I can do anything and I make all these huge goals for myself. But I don't really achieve anything so then that mood plummets. I also make sooo many lists of little mundane things, too. Literally hundreds of lists on little scraps of paper of little things to do. (I thought that was sorta related)

I'm exactly the same!!

Yeah, story of my life.

Though in my case it has absolutely nothing to do with my appearance. Most of the time I wear rags and I rarely look in a mirror. My appearance really doesn't bother me much.

I'm mainly referring to academia and sport.

For example, If I fail to get the highest score in my class in some test, I'd feel like a complete failure.

I'm not sure whether my attitude is necessarily bad. I mean, it has driven me to get A's in every single A level exam and coursework that I did since I started sixth form (in maths, further maths, biology and chemistry). I suppose the biggest con in that is that I take failures very badly...

yes definetely. For me, perfectionism is the main reason that i have SA. Everything i say needs to be perfect, otherwise I stay quiet.
I don't care as much about grades as I use to, because I know that having good social skills is way more important, and improving that is my main goal at the moment.

I dont try to be the best at everything i dont like or that doesnt interest me. And i hate coming off as a know it all.

But with stuff that interests me like drawing i try to do my best so i can be proud :)

And as for how i look it only takes a small amount of time to look the best you can. I dont see anything wrong in that.

Extremely high. In all aspects of my life I expect myself to succeed. It makes failure almost laughable now, cause I fail a lot of the time, but still get something good outta it.

I thought good grades are the key to succes in life,

Heh, success in life is not the real reason why I attempt to get good grades...

Well, I keep trying to tell myself that I'm a very mature person but, some of my motives are very childish. Namely showing-off, proving points to myself and other people, etc.

I really need to work on that aspect of myself... I feel that it's wasting a lot of my energy and time.

I have quite high standards for myself. When I'm not doing anything with my life I feel even more of a loser so I compensate with studying and hopefully improve my chances of getting a proper job.
