Do people respect you

Do people have respect for the kind of person you are? Do they acknowledge and appreciate the things that you offer? Or hold you in high esteem despite social anxiety?

For me because of my extreme awkwardness, respect is something that I feel I dont have much of, its also something that I desire...probably more so than acceptance... I dont think many people see me as someone who is capable or worthwhile that they would like to get to know. etc etc

but anyway..

Do you feel people respect you? or not..?

Definetely not. I can tell just by the way people look at me and the way they talk down to me, they think im nothing basically. Nobody has ever given me a chance to show my abilities they just assume im garbage.

Ive even had numerous teachers do it to me,im like a freakin genius in their class and they ask if I want to go write tests in the learning centre( the stupid kid room basically).

Il never forget the time we were playing baseball in gym class, my gym teacher without ever seeing me play baseball before, moved in like 20 feet from the mound and threw the sissiest under arm pitch to me. Its basically become a self-fulfilling prophecy now. People expect nothing from me and thats what I give them....

Yeah, I know what you mean. Thats what bugs me about other people a lot... its the PRE judgement, thinking they know everything there is to know about someone before giving them a chance. I mean everyone does that, including me... but I dont think very many people are aware that they do it... except for maybe the more insightful open minded types out there..

but yes, being treated like that is just the pits.

No, no, and... oh what do you know! No.

It's pretty obvious that people don't respect me if they always look at me as if I came straight out of the circus or something and talk to me like I'm incapable of understanding what they're saying. They just see me as an extremely shy and awkward girl who has little to no meaning in this life. Just another shadow lurking on the wall.

Depends. Most of the time I'd say yes, but sometimes I do feel people are talking down to me. That will happen to anyone, though.

It definitely is annoying as @#$% when someone does it to you because you're quiet. Ugh, I couldn't stand that in high school and when I occasionally get it now.

Of course.
I'll tell them off in my brain, and they'll just move.
It's magic and they are impressed by my impressiveness.

lol its completely the same with me. Like I'm some dumb girl who has no idea of what's going on (though its true in some cases)

I don't think people respect me at all.
They just use me for my ability to do things for them that they can't do themselves. Paint this, build that, can you connect my electronics, can you fix this. I think it's got to a point where my help is just expected. If something needs doing just get Allen to do it, he doesn't mind.

I think respectful people will always respect people who have not proven themselves unworthy. Disrespectful people will show respect for the people who they believe can make their lives difficult if they don't but not to anybody else.

I think i am looked down on by most people.I try not too let it bother me,some days are easier than others.I think you just have to be yourself and stop worrying about peoples opinions at some point.Cause even if you pretend to be someone else there will always be someone who thinks you're a prick:)

Respect? People used to now these relations are slowly degrading. Just because I've just had giant spikes in my anxiety in the last year has caused them to think, I'll never be anything.
