I've been through some pretty lonely stages in my life because I felt I was too different to fit in with the rest. The normal people... But, looking back its cool. Being different is great. Alone... but great. I realise that every time someone is surprised by my unique outlook on life. Although these moments are rare it still beats being one of the sheep seeking the refuge of the herd.

Being alone is brave, being alone is different, being alone is rare - and don't think people don't notice it. It may be difficult for them to understand, but there is some admiration...

I've been reading most of these threads and one thing is certain: These are very interesting conversations. Most people (we special ones and some sheep...) will find it very interesting and refreshing.

Although people want to be unique they still want to belong and feel normal amongst some uniquely accepting friends I guess. Wanting to be ordinary/conformist is nowadays seen as more unique apparently. I agree though that you shouldn't have to compromise your integrity to fit in.

I have friends who are different, like me... If I weren't ill, maybe I could be closer to them. Our eccentricity is what brings us together, whether that sounds corny or not. It's strange, because when I'm with them... I almost feel... like I fit in. So really I feel no need to conform anyhow.

Different is good.
But sometimes I doubt myself. Sometimes I wish I could see things like other people see things, just to know what it's like. But I can't, because I'm not like other people. -.-
Sometimes I happy with being strange... other times, it's a part of the problem.

We humans are more adaptable than we give ourselves credit for. Acccording to most people we do blend in. It is mostly our own warped minds that see us standing out.

Keep in mind that it is not the fact that we should be alone for the sake of being alone, as if that on it's own was somehow better, it is the fact that we have either matured or experienced life in a far more realistic and far more advanced pace than those of the so called "normal" members of society. I think being different is good. Normal people bore me... They are like a bunch of zombies with the same routines, same lifestyle, same taste, same shit... It's boring.
