Does anyone else feel watching comedy shows daily just in general gets you away from negative anxiety thoughts, and makes you more in the mood for socializing with people and not taking yourself and life so seriously?

What comedy series do you watch?

There are so few comedy shows that I actually find funny, they make me feel more alienated than ever.

Boy Meets World, Fresh Prince of Bel Air, The Nanny, Golden Girls, Roseanne, Home Improvement, Everybody Hates Chris, Martin, Family Matters, In Living Color, Sister Sister, and then there's The George Burns and Gracie Allen show, that's in black and white. It's the oldest show I ever loved. :)

These are all sitcoms though.

I agree there are a lot of bad shows, especially amongst sitcoms. But there definately a few gems out there.
I love The Office and Arrested Development. Seinfeld and Blackadder are also classics to me that always cheer me up.

^ I was just gonna say Blackadder Goes Forth:)

Baldrick: It's a cunning plan, actually.
Blackadder: Of course it is...

Ace Ventura is also very funny.

Seinfeld and Simpsons and That 70s show make me laugh.. but I wouldn´t say watching that stuff removes my negative anxiety thoughts, and makes me more in the mood for socializing with people and not taking myself and life too seriously...........

My favourite line is how the cunning plan is "as cunning as a fox who's just been appointed Professor of Cunning at Oxford University". :D

That's the very last reference to the cunning plan in the series. they saved the best for last.

I've been keeping an eye out around town for Baldrick, aka Tony Robinson, he's here somewhere filming a history show

yes he's a very intelligent person. it makes the Baldrick character all the more funny when you actually see his real persona in the documentaries.

Its true I find a good comedy takes my mind off my problems for a little while at least. If I'm feeling stressed I can think of nothing better then popping in a DVD of the Simpsons and watching a few of the classics.

I wouldn't say they put me in the mood to actually socialize, but they certainly do cheer me up. :) Actually I can be pretty easily amused, doesn't take much sometimes to make me laugh. My list...

Drew Carey's Improv-A-Ganza
Whose Line Is It Anyway?
Family Guy
The Soup
Community (I don't watch this regularly, but I do try to catch it once in a while)
Boy Meets World
That 70s Show
3rd Rock From The Sun
Grounded For Life
8 Simple Rules
30 Rock (Just caught this on tv today. It's pretty funny :) Definitely need to watch more of it)
Tosh.0
=3 by Ray William Johnson (Youtube channel, not a tv show. :p Still, just thought I'd include it here)
Stand-up comedy shows (My favorite happens to be King Baby by Jim Gaffigan. No matter how many times I watch it, I still crack up XD)

^ 30 Rock is the shiz! The end of season 1 and all of 2 and 3 are epic.

New Girl, Parks & Rec, The Office, Arrested Development, King of the Hill and (embarrassingly) Family Guy and American Dad all make me smile, too.

Most of the time, they just lighten my mood and give me a bit of a breather from the awful feelings. But occasionally, especially with 30 Rock, they can make me feel better. That is probably because I relate so much to Liz Lemon. ;)

i don't watch many comedy shows; i loved frasier. for the time watching and some time after it cheered me up, but it had no impact on my mood aside from that.

my top favorite comedies would be:
Arrested Development
Community
Flight of The Conchords
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
Archer
those are my top shows, obviously there are more I watch
