Can you hear this?

Yep.

I'm curious as to how much longer I'll be able to hear it. But in a way, I'm looking forward to not being able to hear that high pitched whine on TV shows anymore. For some reason that always bothers me.

Yeah I hear it too. Funny you should mention TV, because that's exactly what the sound reminded me of - how the old CRT TVs used to sound when the volume was turned right down.

I can hear that one.

If you click on "mosquito ringtones" there is a wider range of sounds.

I'm 20 and I can hear like a 24 y.o. -__-

It has a link to download ringtones and says

"Tones like the one above are sometimes used by teens for their cell phone ring tones so their teachers can’t hear their phone ringing in class (where cell phones are usually banned). The teacher, who is likely older than 25, has some degree of hearing loss and is oblivious to the ring."

I suspect its a ploy to sell rather than a genuine test, I can hear it clearly. My son has mentioned kids in his class using these ringtones

Yes-- 2 seconds and I had a migraine.
haha I am only 23, though. Not very old.

I hate how well I can hear; it causes me alot of discomfort.
I often hear the electrical hum of the television when the a/v jacks aren't quite in properly and can tell when they need to be replaced. No one else in my family is bothered by the sound because they can't hear it even when the volume is muted and their ear is pressed up against the speaker. -__-

I never had those years as a teenager of going to concerts and wanting to listen to LOUD music-- so I guess my ears are pretty good. I've had eardrums burst on me a few times, though; usually out of nowhere.

Well this supposed "phenomena" does promote a brand name of a security product.
Or the sound we are hearing could not actually be the genuine "MOSQUITO tm" sound frequency?

Hmm!

Yeah, I can hear that no problem. (I'm 26.) I can always tell if there's a TV or whatever on without even looking at it because of that sound. Sometimes somebody will shut off the cable box but leave the TV on blank-screened and I can tell it's on. I remember being in classrooms and I knew when somebody turned on the computer behind me. I always wondered if that was something most people could hear or not.

Did anyone click on the high frequency hearing test link? I can hear up to 18kHz.
