Sorry if this sounds dumb. I believe one can picture their own mental images when reading a book, while films force an image on you. maybe that's why it's said that some porno can be unhealthy for some people.
As we talk about reading carefully, I was talking to someone saying that pornography is in general unhealthy to the consumer, which is nonsense.
Excessively? Absolutely everything is unhealthy in excessive amounts. Breathing, eating, showering. Yet do I run around shouting "stop breathing, eating and showering, because it's unhealthy?". The comment "XYZ is unhealthy in excessive amounts" makes no sense.
How is porn unhealthy?
Watching too much porn can lead to erectile problems, not feeling sexually aroused around women, inadequacy, and so on. It's very detrimental for men.
I'm not sure if you are just trolling there. The medical consensus is that masturbation is a medically healthy and psychologically normal habit. Where did you get those "strange ideas" from?
I don't see how erectile dysfunctions, masturbation and sex addiction tie in with anorexia and the potential damage the endorsement thereof may or may not cause.
With all due respect, I feel we're getting a little off topic here.
I think what everyone can agree on is that anorexia isn't healthy, although sufferers can't realise it/do anything about it. It's like any unhealthy act - pornography, alcoholism, gambling - it can take a hold and it can get hard to break out of.
This.
.....
I work at a place which started out as an eating disorder organisation. Its a voluntary organisation, where people with eating disorders meet up and profit from eachothers experiences to find a way to deal with their problems.
So naturally, I don't support websites which promote such a lifestyle in any way. I heard a lot of lifestories from mostly girls with this condition, it is heartbreaking and eye-opening. I had no idea how destructive this was, but now I do. It often even concerns underaged girls, making it even worse for me. Guessing those sites mostly have adults moderating them, they have a responsibility towards them, to give a clear and fair view on the risks of living like that. Supporting such a website is in my opinion downright absurd.
The point was made by someone here that even if the sites did not exist, these disorders would still be as prevalent as they are, it would make no difference, etc.
Not sure what I think about that, though.
