Black people?

I am not black (That is NOT me in the picture), but why is it that a lot of black people (or at least African Americans) are able to socialize so naturally? I would like to know, that would be interesting and potentially helpful to people with Social Anxiety.

Safety Note: I'm not saying ALL African Americans are innately sociable

I would assume it's about culture.... the black culture usually encourages independence. This is the same thing with the Mexican culture. Ever see Mexican families shopping at a store? Usually they let their kids wander off and don't pay much attention to them. Some may think they are careless, but really they are just letting their kids be independent. Fears of abduction are way too extreme and the statistics actually tell us we have nothing to worry about... you have a better chance of dying in a plane crash than having your kid abducted in a supermarket.

The point is.... the black culture, and mexican culture have this in common. They pretty much force their children to do things on their own. And if you do that, I can almost assure you they will not have SA. (All people are different, I know this... but in general this seems to be the case.)

I don't know if it's just about black people but different nationalities also. Ok i may be tarring everyone with the same brush so to speak but generally British people like myself have a reputation of being reserved, we are known for having a stiff upper lip. I have observed that Spaniards and Italians are very fiery and seem to be very outgoing, almost drama queens, i don't know if they all are the same but that the impression i get.

There's of course also shy blacks out there, though the percentage might be less for black people than whites^^.

I think its more about the individual,having said that I have some black cousins there is one that I used to hang out with a lot in my teens,it is so strange how different we have become,guy came here knows less japanese than me and had about 3 japanese girlfriends married another one about 2 weeks ago(i didnt go),lots of friends,doesnt give a shit,again its so strange how different we turned out.

this could be applied to any race/culture, but it could also just be their parents' personalities that "helped" them to be more sociable. if their parents are really outgoing and all, there's little chance that their kids will be quiet and shy. i've been friends w/ black people for my whole life and they are all very outgoing, sociable, friendly, talkative, etc. all qualities that are the exact opposite of a socially anxious person like us.
also, many times they live in an area where they can't be quiet and shy, b/c that would make them vulnerable and more likely to be picked on and hurt by others. when i lived w/ my mom who lives in an all-black/spanish area, you really had to put on a tough face and be "strong" or you would get hurt!

Yeah, i've often wondered that. I suppose partly, black people are stigmatized their whole lives (due to an unjust/racist society if i may say so) and so they just have to get over themselves and their anxieties to survive. They have to get into this frame of mind where they feel proud/comfortable/positive about themselves, and that's the thing that most of us lack...

In addition to the independence thing, Black and Latino cultures have a bigger sense of community I think. Especially because a lot of the time they have large families, and live in communities where everyone knows each other (playground, church, school). There are plenty of other variables, but those are some of the top ones I think.

If someone said something about White people, none of you would like it. I live in the US in a very diverse city with people from all over the globe. I am sorry to say this but a lot of you might consider getting out of your house a little bit more. I am a Latina and i don't appreciate this thread. Latinos are a make up EUROPEAN+ AFRICAN ANCESTRY. For your info in every race, culture, ethnicity there are SHY PEOPLE. It's like me saying that all WHITE PEOPLE ARE RACIST?.....Would that make sense now? No.

Lol, I was wondering the same thing. I've come to expect these sorts of generalizations of minority groups, however, be they black, gay, or even social phobic recluses. I'm not going to say much on this subject besides that things are not always as we perceive them to be and that some people are better at hiding their fears and pain than others.

Nervous, think whatever you want. I am American born citizen from parents who are from Latin America. If you do some research you will know that Latinos are Mix with European and African ancestry. You are obviously ignorant and i believe that this thread should had never been made. The majority of the people in here are what WHITE? Lets have a minority make a thread about white people and see if people would like it. Your comment was totally uncalled for, i suggest you do history on your own people.
