Plus, I work in an environment where people swear at me all the time. It is just how people express strong feelings, sometimes used or misused, for punctuation. Either way, they are just words.

It doesn't bother me, and in fact I find swear words useful emphatics.

I can't say I swear that often, if at all really. It's not that i'm uptight about it or anything.


I know some say it's only words, but I do think there's more to it than that. If you are engaging in friendly banter with someone (meh, this sentence is beginning to sound like one of my self help books) then I don't see anything wrong with it. I guess it depends on what context you use it in. If someone is going to say F every other sentence, then I think this gives you an insight into what that person is like. I just think it makes them look insecure. It's almost like they are overcompensating for something. But what the F do I know.

I find it very annoying when people say F**k or S**t a thousand times. To me it sounds ignorant and rude. There are so many other words.

I'm the same. I curse quite a bit. But when every other word is a four letter word, I'm going to have a problem. And it's not that I'm offended. I just find it ignorant and annoying.

I used to be uncomfortable about it because I never heard any swearing at all growing up. Then I'd be afraid that the swearer would notice I was uncomfortable or surprised by their language, and I was afraid that would make me seem childish or inexperienced. It became a circle in which anytime someone would drop an F-bomb near me, I'd go out of my way to seem unfazed by it, which of course only made my discomfort more obvious.

i dont swear or anything (i feel weird if i do), but it doesnt bother me much. depending on the situation and the level of profanity. like if they swear every other word. or in certain settings.

I am not. But then, sometimes I am. Really depends on the context. With that said, I can swear a lot. I can also be very vulgar. But I have curbed that quite a bit, and only a lucky select few get to see that side of me

I'm shocked when, like, you're at a store, and someone is casually non-stop swearing. He isn't even mad. You can tell this is just his normal language. The stunning part is he doesn't even realize his public talk is inappropriate and could be offending others.

On another level, I cringe when I hear people using 'Jesus Christ' as cursing. The Bible says that Jesus created the world, knows our every sin and every thought, will judge our lives someday, and will determine whether we ever asked Him to save us from our sins or not, in order to determine where we'll spend forever. To use His name as a swear word is a pretty good indicator of whether that person takes these warnings seriously or not.

whenever i go out to dinner with my family (once a year or so...) my brother cusses like a sailor. and it's not just cussing, it's graphic vulgarity... x-rated, crude things. he says it very loudly in restaurants as people are trying to eat 3 feet away from us. it's so embarrassing. no tact.
