I don't think anything is being denied them. If they are choosing western lifestyles, western standards and western culture over their own then it is just that - a choice. We may argue over whether it is a good choice or a bad one (personally I think it is regrettable that they seem to be choosing western culture over their own) but it is still a choice.
Okay, that is your opinion but i must respectfully disagree. if you look at advertising, there is a science behind advertisements. Psychologists are actually hired to research what appeals to the target groups in order to increase sales.
Ads for skin lightening cream in India for example, use emotional manipulation where they will compare a dark skinned girl to a light skinned girl, the latter shown in the ad to be more socially accepted and more content with life. The ad is targeting the average Indian girl's insecurity or fear of rejection by others and this seed of doubt compels her to maybe purchase the product. You may rubbish this but young girls are especially susceptible to this sort of message and I'm sure from personal exp rejection from society was a real fear growing up.
The question here is whether it really is a choice if the decision to buy the product was driven by such an emotion. I think people think that what they buy is based on a logical decision but it isn't. Ads appeal to your insecurities and desires to make you want the product. Just think of it this way, you do not need sexuality to sell a car, chocolate or a piece of clothing. So why not just have an average girl wear the dress as opposed to Gisele Bubunchkin? *And this manipulation is not only limited to advertising, music videos, movies, any vehicle of popular culture, they all use the same tools to sell a lifestyle, an idea, beauty etc.
