And this is why...

I'm not on Facebook or anything similar.

I keep getting text messages from my NY buddy. He is in DC for a few days. I want to say, SHUT UP, STOP TEXTING ME what you are doing every freaking minute.

1. I get envious, jealous, call it what you want
2. Then I get sad and depressed, and lonely
3. Then I just get mad
4. It's obnoxious, I feel - only because of numbers 1-3, lol. Wonder if I didn't have SA if this would be an issue?

...but instead, being that I have no spine what so ever, I text back, "awesome, sounds great, good for you..."

Why? Why don't I just say, "hey, it's cool you're having a great time, but please don't text me every detail from what you are eating to what you are doing or photographing."

Really...it's that hard for me to do that? I disgust myself sometimes.

This is not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but for SAers, it is that much more gut-wrenching.

Even as someone without SA, I would probably feel the same way.

How about "glad you're having a great time, you can tell me all about it when you get back, enjoy the rest of your trip!"

I would just ignore him. Or say, I don't need a play by play (from one of my favorite movies, 13 going on 30 lol).

ORRRRR, say. "You know, I'm really depressed right now, and when you keep texting me about all the fun you're having, I just want to take your phone and bash your head with it"..Oh, but yeah, glad you're having fun. Now STFU."

LOL

Good replies! Thanks, guys :)

See, I was so wound up about it, I couldn't think of anything clever to say (to kindly make him stop)

He's so COTU!
lol

I have friends who are like that, I just try my best to feel happy for them and congratulate them for something they are excited about. Although, if he's truly having such a great time....why does he need to send a text message so often? I usually forget about my phone when I'm having a great time.

Unfriend/block them.

Simple.
That's a little harsh.

cowboyup, thanks for making this thread. I think I am doing the same to someone so I need to pull back a little. I can see you don't want to hear his Twitter reviews of everything he does, and maybe it's the same with me. Good to know.
