Anyone else here consistently listen to music when in public?

Me personaly listen to metal. Every chance i get, whether i'm on the train, walking or just in my room, i always put on my earplugs and max the volum, speakers at home offcourse.
It doesn't really distract me as much as i want, but it's one of my mechanisms for cooping with the hoplessness, life or what ever.
highly recomended if you've never tried it,something to focus on, like counting to ten if you feel like you need to de distracted when you are in public.

if anyone is looking for some new bands in the more hardcore genres like death, melodic and metalcore. here are some of my favorite bands with their best song :)

destinity - black sun rising ... double drums for headbanging
machinehead - locust ... probably best vocals in metal
starkill - virus of the mind ... incredible lyrics
ouroboros - edifice of tyranny ... insane guitars
august burns red - marianas trench ... sick screams

And finaly from my homeland Dimmu Borgir - Burn in hell

sorry for the long post, i just really love metal.
won't mind getting some bands in return :p

Getting into some old metal lately. Can't do the screaming metal. Too old...lol

I listen to and buy a lot of music. I'm old school though with the CD's. I like to keep new ones coming in every week.
My phone is loaded with 30gb of .mp3 for the gym.

Music has always been my best friend.
My only friend, like Jim Morrison said. ...lol

I don't just listen to music out in public. I will listen to music in the car and when working. I mostly listen to music at home, on my computer. I listen to Metal a lot of the time, it makes up more than half my music collection (16.5K songs total, 9.5K Metal songs).

I've spent most of my time over the years at home on my computer, so I've spent a lot of my time listening to music.

I'm not addicted, I can stop at any time!

I love heavy metal myself, too, so I know what it's like to want to listen to it as much as possible. Do you actually have an addiction or is it just something you noticed you do a lot? Are their withdrawal symptoms associating with not listening?

Good to see some love for Ouroboros, as well!

I actually hadn't heard of two of the bands OP mentioned, Ouroboros and Starkill, but I thought August Burns Red wasn't very metal (don't mean to be insulting just my opinion from the little I've heard). Who do those two bands sound like? What type of metal of metal would you do if you recorded your own music? I try to go for a Six Feet Under/ Chimaira vibe myself.

Depending on how much variety in metal you like, I would recommend Whitechapel, All That Remains, All Shall Perish, Dying Fetus, Scar Symmetry (particularly their Holographic Universe album) and Dry Kill Logic.

For me, there are indeed some kind of withdrawal symptoms if I go too long without listening to any of my music and if I go too long without listening to Metal.

I myself love music. My favorite being metal as well. I play 3 instruments and do metal vocals. I also always have to listen to music, I find it's soothing and when you find someone else who likes metal music you have so much to talk about.

I remember when I was 12 and my cousin introduced me to Metallica, I was hooked. I started to download more thrash metal like Megadeth and Slayer. I downloaded Motorhead, Pantera, and Iron Maiden. Eventually I got to heavier, going to Slipknot, Avenged Sevenfold. Eventually that got into death metal. I listen to any sub genre of metal, and love it all.

Most of the bands I posted were just examples I have over 1000 songs on my ipod at the moment all of them metal :p. So yes I am also addicted to metal music.

I was like that before I started to getting control over it.

I'm going to say I was addicted to it however I can manage myself with it and now listen to like just 2 days in a week. If you ask me how much music I have, I must say around 98GB of it and it still grows. I listen to everything that has that "bit", you can't really explain it :idontknow: tho most of the time I'm listening to Rap and various remixes especially Dubstpes/Nightstep/Nightcore etc but I'm Anti-Biebier and Anti-One-Direction guy. Well that's about it I would say.

Am I the only person who reviews music in their head? I will get a new cd (yes I know I'm old..haha) listen to it a bunch of times, then write a little review for it in my head like that dude in American Psycho :p
I always mean to write them out and put them on amazon but never happens because I move on to the next cd.
I also read a lot of music reviews written by other people.

I listen to music from the time I wake up until just before I go to sleep.
I can't leave my house without my iPod+charger and headphones...even if it's just going to the store up the street.
