I see that a few people here have been banned. Am I allowed to ask why they have been banned, or is it strictly moderator/patient confidentiality? :D

We don't discuss the details with anyone else. It's for the mods and the offenders only to know the exact circumstances. If they are banned, then they broke the rules. Any other information is confidential.

So how are we, the users, supposed to have any confidence in the mods, if they, the "leaders", carry on in such a shadowy manner...?

Personally, and i doubt i only speak for myself, (i) don't see how mods here, or people elsewhere, wherever they are and whatever they're doing, who happen to be in positions of "authority", however big or small, have ever demonstrated any abilit(ies)y whatsoever to lead anyone, anywhere, about anything. But i guess the details about bans remain veiled. Fine, i can understand that to a point, but from what I've observed, several people who got banned didn't deserve it. Just my opinion.

So is this Social Phobia World...? Or is it State Privacy Whitewash?
Let us know...

The rules as voted by the members here do state:

rules said:
All moderators' decisions are final, and arguing over decisions will get you into further trouble.
On the spot bans and warnings (leading to permanent bans) will be issued where necessary and these are final.

If you have a problem with a moderator on the board, or a moderating decision, PM moderators and they will independantly
look into your complaint.
Please provide a screenshot if there is abuse.

Where I have underlined is what you should do, contact a mod by PM if you have any queries.
As Philly said we cannot give all details as it breaches the privacy of those banned and those who may be the victim of the banned member.
I personally do give brief details if PMed but this is not up for discussion on the board, most forums do it that way (to avoid flame wars).

We did recently ban three members.

Nack for being abusive and swearing at another member: 2 weeks

Mikefly for baiting him: 1 week

Noca permanently for this:

These members have all been given fair warnings, infractions and all have had previous bans, they were all fully aware of the rules (rules voted in by the majority of members here).

All bans after seeing the evidence were unanimous amongst the mods, none of us were in disagreement and we all thought it fair, we don't always agree on everything but in these bans and the reasons we all did.

If anyone is not happy with that, then PM a mod, or if not happy with the mod team, PM the webmaster.

We do have a vote of confidence in the mod team every year or so, one should be due soon, maybe air your concerns then mitch.

On a side note some people do request to be banned as they want to take a break from the site.

usually we put 'on a break' under thier title but the nature of the dodgy DB here often does not show that sometimes
