Anybody else having trouble filling the day with things to do (especially when you're alone)?

Name something you can do! Try to be specific so that we can have a huge list when we're bored. (like include type of book rather than 'read a book', yaddaayadddda!)

<Yes, I have that problem

Umm, Lay in bed and think. (It sounds stupid until you try it, very nice and relaxing I think)

- Go for a walk, or a run
- Join a volunteer group (Scarey I know lol)
- Learn a musical instrument
- Take up an art form; air brushing, painting, anime/manga, photography
- Learn a new language
- Study and/or read poetry/literature
- Start a new fitness program, i.e., aerobics, weights et al
- Start a collection of some sort (cards, coins, memorabilia)
- Watch a movie
- Listen to music
- Get a pet
- Perhaps you could go to your local animal shelter and volunteer to take a dog for walks
- Learn how to sow and/or make clothes
- Learn how to cook. You could do so casually or learn more in depth topics

I can't think of anything else @_@ Hope this helps

I have the opposite problem! I have spent so much time on my own for so long that I have built my life around key interests and get panicky when I have to give time to people! I've only just realised this, I know it's only a change of perspective, but I really find this very difficult to rectify.

  • Look at your landscape and imagine it 500 years ago
  • Explore under the house or in the attic
  • Have a clearout, chuck out stuff you no longer need
  • Reorganise the furniture
  • Clean something
  • Hang upside down
  • Fix something
  • Cook a cake
  • Check out the lounge and armchairs for lost stuff
  • Disk cleanup, Defrag, checkdisk
  • Go somewhere in the neighborhood you've never been
  • Visit the cemetery
  • Sit and watch the birds, put some bread out for them
  • Draw funny stuff in the newspaper, eg mustaches on people
  • Put a box or bag down for the cats and see what they do
  • See if you can see Venus in the daytime

i do the "lay in bed and think" thing, too... i love relaxing and just 'thinking' about random things... too bad that's considered lazy =/ lol.. usually when i'm bored and need to get out of the house, i go driving or go to the mall and walk around.. the bookstore is a good place to go, because you're not expected to be talkative or anything.. it's always nice to me there, barnes and noble always has good music playing, and it's a freaking huge book store, i just walk around and look at stuff, haha...

-Disassemble and reassemble household appliances. (Then time yourself.)
-Count how many sidewalk slabs run around the block.
-Check smoke/fire detectors
-Organize your clothes by which country they were made in.
-Move every piece of furniture 3 inches to the left.
-Walk 1 hour in a random direction.
-Sit at an intersection and figure out how much money in fines your city could be making in 10mins if they were to enforce the traffic laws. (The last time I did this it was well over $8000.)
-Sit at an intersection and count how many cars have only one person in them.
-Write to your congressman/MP.
