Driving: Does It Help Relieve Your Anxiety Or Increase It?

I've always found driving to be very therapeutic. Preferably, long drives thru scenic areas if possible. I'm lucky in this regard as I live on an island and there are many beautiful drives to be taken. But even short drives to the store or for errands seem to help. The only time this doesn't...

Feeling Absolutely Exhausted At The End of Day from SA

Does anyone else who has to work in the real world feel completely exhausted by the time the day is over? I find it is so draining even when nothing in particular is going wrong. Just the constant awareness of my anxiety, the "normal" people going about their "normal" lives and seeming to have...

What's The Worst Thing Anyone Has Done To You?

I think for me, it was someone I grew up with since we were infants until young adult age pretending to be my close friend but was really a totally different person behind my back. It didn't start off that way but I think he began to have feelings of severe dislike as we reached our early teen...

When You Have SA A New Indignity Is Always Just Around The Corner

Anybody else with SA feel this way? It just seems like there's one indignity or act of disrespect directed at us at all times. It's downright uncanny. It's like people who don't even know us target us. Today, I'm walking back to work after accompanying a co-worker to get coffee. I work in...

Avoiding One On One Social Situations

I've noticed my anxiety increases a lot when I'm invited to do something with just one other person. Last week a co-worker asked if I had lunch plans. I said I didn't and thought he was going to invite me out with a group. Turned out it was just going to be me and him. After agreeing, I saw...

    Are You A Good Negotiator?

I admit, I think I'm pretty bad at it. I've bought cars where I find out later I could have gotten it for a lot less had I been stubborn/skilled enough as a negotiator. I just bought a car about a week ago and was determined I wasn't going to get pushed around. I went in with an ideal price...

    The Problem With Being Popular

I've debated making this thread for a while out of fear that it will be taken as bragging. Let me try to clarify. My problem is nothing to brag about. It isn't so much that I stay popular, it's that I must be easily approachable at first and seem like somebody that people want to hang out...

17 Things People Don't Understand About OCD

This was on my facebook newsfeed. I shared it so that my friends who don't understand OCD might get some insight. This is probably nothing new for most of you here but wanted to post it anyway as I appreciated whoever put this together. I cut and pasted from the site but here is the link...

Aside From What Brought You Here What "Normal" Problems Do You Have?

Nothing serious here, guys. I just thought this would be interesting. Aside from SA, I have sleep apnea (another SA...lol), am claustrophobic and allergic to pollen. I'm supposed to be using some type of breathing device when I sleep for the sleep apnea but have been putting off getting it...

Question For Those Of You Who Are Married

How did you handle your wedding day? Was it excruciating for you or did you enjoy it? The wedding day is always something I dreaded because you are the constant center of attention. There's pressure on you to make speeches, dance in front of everyone and just be generally sociable. I turned...

    Happiness Is...

Sometimes, with all the problems we all face with our varying degrees of social problems, this otherwise awesome site can get to be a little bit of a downer. I thought it would be kind of cool to list things (specific of totally random) that make you happy. It can be big or small. I'll start...

    Problem With Ending Conversations Awkwardly

I've been having a problem with ending conversations lately, especially at work. When someone is making small talk with me, I'll start to get anxious when we start to run out of things to say. I don't know how to end it and don't want to stand around awkwardly trying to think of something...

Post a Picture of Something That Always Brings A Smile to Your Face

Shetland Sheepdogs (Shelties). These little guys are great. I had one that looks just like this one, he was the best. Always smiling and ready to play. Everytime I see one it makes me smile a little if only inside. Toddlers playing. This is the age when they first start trying to put...

They Dislike Us Even More For Minding Our Own Business?

I don't get these types of people and am wondering if any of you have had to deal with this personally. Okay, I think we all know that people tend to make unfair judgments against people with SA and ultimately decide they don't like us. I've come to accept that many will take this stance, it's...

Zirtual - May Be A Good Employment Alternative

I know a lot of us look for alternatives to having to work with a lot of people. This company was recommended to me from a trusted source as an employer of Virtual Assistants. Those are people who work mainly from home and assist businesses with administrative type duties. I checked out their...

Does Your Mind Involuntarily Seize On The Negative?

I've noticed that every day I seem to find myself focusing on the one negative thing that happened to me. If several negative things happened that day, I will focus on the biggest one. Most times, it's something that shouldn't even be a big deal. I know this yet I find myself thinking about...

People Stealing Your Ideas Because You're Quiet

Does anybody have or have had in the past a problem with people stealing your thoughts/jokes/ideas? You may have come up with it but you told one person or maybe you didn't say it loud enough. Then that one person goes on to repeat what you said and claim all the credit for it. I had a friend...

    Has SA Made You Jittery/Jumpy?

I've noticed lately that when my SA is really at a high, I become very jumpy. If someone approaches me, especially rapidly, and I am not prepared (kind of by surprise) it takes all I can muster to keep from jumping out of my skin. Sometimes I really do jump noticeably. Anyone else experience this?
