honestly, as silly as this will sound, if you need to freeze, freeze. Sometimes seeing the symptoms you deal with is more informative to them then any questions they can ask. Of course your scared, its natural, you have a stranger asking you pretty intimate questions about your life. I sure would feel like you do.

I cant say for sure, as every head doctor has a different approach, but you'll probably be asked about your family life, like what you described in your post, maybe your medical history, your job situation, basically the first session is for him or her to try to get a feel for you and understand you and your situation better before the real attempts to help you begins.

It works for some, not for others. Try to go into it with an open mind. If it doesnt work for you, nothing lost exactly, right?. But i think its worth the effort.

Keep us posted man :).

Hey! It's great you get to see a psychiatrist/therapist!

Yeah, nervous is quite usual in a situation like this, maybe you can write down some things on a piece of paper and bring with, or even print this out (like what you wrote here, or a bit more), to know what to mention? You could also give him/her the note/essay if you'd 'freeze up'?

You could also ask if there is CBT (=cognitive behavioural therapy) or such available, it's way better to get therapy, not just meds...

Please stay away from weed, it can make things worse...

This doctor seems concerned and caring, even if it may seem like a bad thing it's probably a good thing if you'd be able to get some good support/therapy... Take care and let us know how it goes!!

Seeing a shrink is a good starting point, have some faith in the system. If you are not happy never be afraid to get a second opinion!

Aww... Sorry to hear it went like that.. Did you talk to that doctor who sent you then?
You could say to the nurse that doctor sent you - do you know his name? Maybe you can write it down next time or something like that? And do tell him what happened like you told us, if he knows anything about sa, he'll probably understand, I hope.. And tell us how it goes!!

You're brave for going, maybe there was a misunderstanding or something..

I met a psychiatrist once. It's a complete waste of time, but you don't have anything to worry about. They're just inoffensive charlatans, as long as you don't allow them to tell you what to do with your life.

hmm, some can be good - it really depends who you go to.. I've heard people had really good results when they went to good ones..

But that's because they know how to listen to others feelings instead telling you what to do not caring about your little problems. That kind of people would be able to do that even if they hadn't a degree, because that's something that goes with a certain type of personality rather than with being il Dottore. Moreover, "the good ones" are the exception, since most of them are ****ing retard. This is the only profession where client is never right.

Hey, I'm really sorry it went that way and that you were put in that position.
maybe if you're able to you can call them and tell them that you missed your appointment, and that you did have on set up by the police. Maybe then you can book another one?
